The Restaurant That Brought Nepalese Food to the Central Coast

Nepalese food isn’t something you come across often on the Central Coast – in fact, when Nepalese Accent opened in February 2024, it was the only Nepalese restaurant on the Central Coast.

So as you can appreciate, it’s a pretty special addition to Gosford’s dining scene. And they’ve built a loyal following the old-school way – word of mouth and genuinely good food… plus a menu that defies that dreaded cost of living!

Bringing a taste of Nepal to the Central Coast

Behind it all is Pravesh, who spent years working in hospitality (including as a head chef at a few venues around the Coast) before deciding it was time to do something of his own. His goal was to cook the food he grew up with – the kind you’d find in the mountains of Nepal – and put it on the table here, with a bit of a modern Australian twist.

It’s a real family operation, too. His brother Pankaj is a chef, business partner and licensee, and they’re quick to point out that none of this would be possible without the support of their parents, Saru and Prakash.

And then there’s Pravesh’s wife, Regina – the backbone of the restaurant and the warm, welcoming Front of House Manager. She’s the one making sure everyone feels looked after from the moment they walk in.

It all adds to the relaxed, welcoming vibe they’ve created. You can tell they genuinely care about getting it right, and sharing their culture and flavours with us lucky locals.

What to order at Nepalese Accent, Gosford

If you’re trying to picture Nepalese food, the easiest reference point is Indian – there are obvious similarities – but it’s generally lighter, less cream-heavy and a little more subtle with spice. You still get the warmth and depth, just without that heavy, end-of-meal slump where you’re questioning your life choices on the drive home.

Start with the momo, an absolute non-negotiable. These soft, warm Nepalese dumplings are packed with flavour and disappear quickly. Add in pani puri (crispy, sweet and spicy) and aloo chop, a golden fried potato croquette.

From there, you’ve got dishes like dal bhat – a staple in Nepal, built around lentils, rice and sides – alongside curries, grilled meats and share plates that feel familiar enough to order confidently, but different enough to keep things interesting.

The Himalayan masala goat curry is worth a mention: slow-cooked, bone-in goat that’s rich, tender and full of flavour. Goat’s not something you see often on menus around here, so definitely give it a try – we think you’ll be surprised.

And it’s all super affordable too – there’s nothing over $30 on the menu, which is almost unheard of these days!

Social dining in Gosford with live music & events

There’s a strong social side to Nepalese Accent as well, and it feels completely natural. They regularly host live music and events, including a recent cricket screening (Nepal vs Italy) that brought locals together.

That community feel is a big part of what they’re doing. Families are always welcome – they genuinely love kids – and no one’s stressing if things get a bit loud. If you’ve ever tried to eat out with kids and spent half the night apologising to the table next to you, you’ll appreciate that.

They also cater for functions and events, whether you’re looking to book out the space or organise takeaway catering for a group — a handy option to keep in mind when you’ve got something coming up and don’t feel like cooking for a crowd.

Nepalese Accent: a must-try Central Coast restaurant

A couple of practical things that don’t go unnoticed: first, there are no long weekend or public holiday surcharges, a rare feat when dining out in 2026.

It’s also a licensed venue with imported Nepalese beers and spirits if you feel like trying something different beyond the usual taps – or they make a mean cocktail that’s hard to pass up.

They’re open daily, split across lunch (12–4pm) and dinner (5–9pm). Easy enough to work around, whether you’re planning ahead or doing the last-minute “what’s for dinner” scroll (happens more than we’d like to admit!)

Nepalese Accent brings something different to Gosford, but it doesn’t make a big deal about it. Good food, a welcoming room, and a steady stream of people coming back – that’s pretty much the story. And it’s time you were a part of it.
