Urgent medical care, without the wait: How Tuggerah’s EUC Clinic is Changing the Game
X-rays to physio, blood tests to specialist medical attention, the Central Coast’s first walk-in emergency clinic offers fast, comprehensive care.
When Coasties caught up with local emergency specialist Dr Matthew Ingram, he was gearing up for another busy shift. He knew, without a doubt, the people he was about to help would need urgent care but would have non-life-threatening problems and could be cared for safely and efficiently outside of the hospital setting.
That is a scenario staff in emergency care everywhere face every day with patients, but it’s also a scenario the EUC team are helping with here on the Central Coast. Nine Central Coast emergency medicine specialist doctors have teamed up to bridge the gap between the emergency department and the tricky hunt for a same-day GP appointment with the Central Coast’s first walk-in Specialist Emergency and Urgent Care Clinic at Tuggerah.
“We’re all locals—we’ve all been there when a kid gets hurt on the footy field, or we misjudge a gardening moment and end up cutting ourselves instead of the roses,” Dr Ingram said.
“And we know how stressful it is when something’s not life-threatening but definitely can’t wait a few days.”
The ‘EUC’ Clinic, conveniently located near BCF and Supercheap Auto at Tuggerah, is open seven days a week, 365 days a year for walk-ins. Patients are greeted by a senior emergency nurse within minutes, given immediate attention, and then treated by an emergency specialist doctor on-site. Need an X-ray? Done. A pain management plan, prescriptions, blood tests, or physio? You got it. All of this, right there, on the spot. Talk about peace of mind, right?
“We’re here to help people quickly, because no one enjoys waiting, especially when they’re in pain or discomfort,” Dr Ingram said.
In just its first three months, the EUC has helped more than 1,000 locals get back on their feet without the need to shuffle between appointments or wait! At most, on a busy day, patients might wait 15 to 20 minutes. Pretty impressive, right?
Online reviews back it up: “I brought my 11-year-old son in…on a Sunday, and I’m so grateful for this place…they really took their time with us…Unheard of!” one mum shared.
Another parent mentioned their four-year-old was seen straight away by both a nurse and doctor: “They were so friendly and took the time to explain everything. Such peace of mind without the ED wait.”
One local said when they attended the clinic they were “seen within 10 minutes… I would have waited hours in the ED or days for an appointment. This place definitely eases the strain on an already busy ED.”
There’s no catch—just a flat fee of $284 per appointment, which includes expert care from the nurses, doctors, and the whole support team. A no-brainer for instant care, peace of mind, and a calm, welcoming environment.
It’s a service we hope our readers won’t need often, but we know they’ll be grateful for it when they do!
The Central Coast Specialist Emergency and Urgent Care Clinic is open to walk-in patients seven days a week from 10am to 8pm, and is located at Unit 3A, 152-156 Pacific Highway, Tuggerah, with plenty of free parking at the doorstep.
