When you ask MD Brick founder Martin Driene how the business started, his answer is refreshingly honest.
“I was broke. So I started from home, working out of my garage.”
That humble beginning – converting half a double garage into a tiny office – was the first brick laid in what would grow into MD Brick, one of New South Wales’ most trusted suppliers of bricks, blocks and building materials.

Martin launched MD Brick in 2006 with a simple idea: make it easier for builders, tradies, and renovators to get everything they need for a job, in one place. Before long, their West Gosford yard was on the radar for builders, tradies and DIY renovators looking to source materials (and advice) without the runaround.
Today the business employs more than 20 people and operates from West Gosford on the Central Coast, plus Minchinbury and Brookvale in Sydney, supplying a wide range of building and landscaping materials including pavers, retaining walls, fibre cement, stone cladding and steel garden edging.
From the beginning, Martin’s focus was simple – offer a wide range of products, back it up with genuine industry knowledge, and provide good old-fashioned service that keeps people coming back.
Nearly two decades on, that approach has clearly paid off.

“If someone’s doing a renovation or extension and can’t identify the brick,” Martin explains, “we’ll go out to site, free of charge, match the bricks and supply samples. No one else does that.”
MD Brick is currently the only reseller of both major and boutique building and landscaping brands on the Central Coast. The team also offers a free estimation service, helping customers work out exactly what they need for a job – from bricks and blocks through to lintels, concrete and windows.
