The new-look local at the Entrance delivering a winning combo of food, drink and atmosphere
Local institution, the Lakes Hotel, has been reimagined into a brand new, contemporary Coastal venue offering the perfect digs for a great time.
Grab your mates, grab your dates, grab your family or dare we say it, grab yourself and then do thyself a favour this summer by checking out the completely revamped Lakes Hotel at the Entrance.
You may have noticed the old faithful watering hole, which has been loved by locals and tourists alike for more than 80 years, has had a bit of a facelift lately. Well let us tell you, her facelift has had a dazzlingly phenomenal impact.
You can tell the pub’s new look and feel has been inspired by the region’s rich history and beloved beach culture, and its popularity proves it’s working.
Our personal pick of the new venue’s features is the cool beer garden, where you can stroll on in after a day at the beach to enjoy an icy cold drink and relax, often to live music. The fresh, coastal inspired colour palette, contemporary decor and suave finishings extend on into the brand new front bar, which has kept its heritage charm but with a sharp, modern and warm vibe.
One of the hottest features of the refurbishment is the new sports bar, where you won’t just find local racing, cricket and footy broadcast live on the six metre wide mega HD screen but your pick of all of the global sporting sensations, from the NBA, NHL and College Football, right through to the Euro PGA.
The manager of Harris & Narvo’s Hotel Group, Jordan Harris, said it was important the transformation kept the distinct local feel with all of the modern trimmings.
“We wanted the venue to be a blend of nostalgia and the new; a place that still pays homage to the area’s heritage and history, but in a contemporary and playful way,” he said.
“It’s still about enjoying those simple things in life – tasty food, chilled drinks and plenty of good times. We hope that all of our patrons, locals and visitors will love the new venue.”
Along with a venue transformation, the food and drink offering has been completely reconsidered, with the kitchen team now headed up by chef Paul Thorton, who recently won the AHA Award of Excellence for Regional Chef of the Year for his role as Head Chef at sister venue, Hotel Jesmond.
