Perfectly aligned with the new year, many have a wellness focus which we are totally here for. Rejuvenation and self-care, yes, please!  There’s also shopping – mindful, considered, small batch and unique think Japandi, bespoke and artisan.

For the kids, they’ll be jumping out of their skin to try the newest play centre to hit the Coast and not to be forgotten, play time for the adults with cocktails and tapas.  Always a winning combo in our opinion.

As you’ll know if you’ve been following Coasties for a while, we just love to #supportlocal businesses and see them thrive here on the Central Coast – how do you help?  Play your part – be sure to get out and show these guys some good old Coasties lovin’!  Buy from them, follow them on socials, like their posts and recommend them to friends and family.

Small businesses like these and more are what make our Coast!

New Business Openings Central Coast 2023

1. Swellta, Long Jetty

Our top pick for kicking off your 2023 is to treat yourself to a relaxing infrared sauna session. Saunas have been a way of life for those taking up residence in Scandinavian countries for over 2000 years. With the multitude of proven health benefits, it’s no wonder.

Where a regular sauna uses heat to warm the air, an infrared sauna uses infrared light to heat your body directly without warming the air around you. This is perfect for those who find a traditional sauna experience too hot, or a little overwhelming as infrared saunas operate at a lower heat – between 46 and 60 degrees. Enough to create a healthy, detoxing sweat without being overwhelmingly hot.

Did you read the opening paragraph and think, “Japandi, what in the world is that?” A new concept for us too, but gosh we are glad we now know it. This is all thanks to Oh Bless Home in Copacabana, their store aesthetic is called ‘Japandi’ (Japanese / Scandi). It’s a combination of the sleek, minimal Scandinavian design with an earthen, slightly rugged Japanese influence. Yes please!

Not only do they stock a thoughtfully selected range of wares, brought in from across the globe (Denmark, Japan, New Zealand) and from local suppliers, but they are also a homewares store with a coffee bar.  Expect a simple and paired back menu (not your full cafe experience) but like the homewares every detail has been taken care of and is well thought out.  Perfectly suited to their in-store experience.

Their online store is not long off too so keep an eye out over at their socials for more info.

4. Daleys Bar, Daley’s Point

Summer new openings on the Central Coast just got better.  You know it’s an exciting time when one of our favourite cafes spills the beans on a little project they’re working on…

Sarma, owner of the hugely popular, Daleys Kitchen has now made that project a reality with the opening of Daleys Bar. Sitting right alongside Daleys Kitchen, Daleys Bar opens this Friday, 27 January. To say we are pumped for this would be an understatement.  The plan is to offer tapas, drinks and live music from 4pm on weekends: Fridays through Sundays.

Now, if you’ve eaten at Daleys Kitchen you’ll know what all the fuss is about these guys don’t do things in halves. Sipping a cocktail as the sun goes down, listening to live music and munching on delicious tapas I mean what more could  Coastie ask for?

Keep up to date over at their Insta.

5. Three Donkeys Home, Long Jetty

Yes, yes, we hear you – whilst technically not a ‘new opening’, their beautiful new location in Long Jetty needs a mention.  Our friends Joanne and Roy have moved their wildly successful bespoke homewares store from Wamberal just before Christmas, opening their brand new store to rave reviews.

While the cafe remains in Wamberal, they have added a coffee bar to their offering in their new digs at Long Jetty location, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Sister studio to their much loved Long Jetty studio, Compass Pilates have recently opened their second studio, based in Karalta Plaza, Erina. This studio offers reformer pilates classes only. They have effectively doubled the number of beds and classes available to their members and now offer the convenience of two locations.

Having recently checked out the new studio, Tash (co-owner of Coasties) highly recommends it. The beds are some of the best she has used on the Coast (same beds as the Long Jetty studio, only shiny and new), the layout is spacious enough that you aren’t worried about the person on either side of you and there is ample parking available.

If you haven’t yet given reformer pilates a go – it is time to learn what all the hype is about. Friendly and welcoming instructors, grab yourself the introductory offer here and get your year off to the best start!
