The Central Coast’s proximity to Sydney has for many, over the years, meant a brutal commute to Sydney. The direct and most obvious impact of this is a loss of hours in our days and weeks but there too exists the negative impact to our local economy. The pandemic came to many as a pleasant change with WFH and hybrid working both becoming terms that now find commonplace in our vernacular. However, as a result, the lines of work and life have become considerably blurred. The idea of work-life balance can often feel laughable for some.  Four years on, as we slowly emerge from the clutches of the pandemic and are in the post-lockdown world, we’ve come to realise that solely working from home isn’t working for many of us. The experience can feel isolating and the toll on our mental wellbeing is evident. And, so enter; co-working.  It’s the answer that many seek. No longer a mysterious thing that only exists in our bigger metros but a concept and a community that is flourishing here on the Central Coast.

At last count, across the Central Coast region, there are over 11 coworking hubs, each offering a similar solution and option for hybrid work.  Yet, in their own way, each space offers something unique to their members. When it comes to choosing the right coworking space for you KoWorks intends to tick as many boxes as possible.

The inception of KoWorks came about after burnout and overwhelm consumed Founder Adam Hyman during the pandemic.  Each day he’d walk Copacabana Beach, and notice the empty Surf Life Saving Club. The idea came to him that instead of working from home, why not work from the SLSC and give back to the community? A Facebook group, some pop-up desks and a group of like-minded individuals later, and KoWorks was born.

“Coming together during uncertain times in an effort to find connection, collaboration and flexibility in our workday was just the beginning”, Adam says.

Coworking on the Central Coast

It wasn’t long before the idea quickly evolved and two permanent KoWorks locations were established in Killcare and Gosford. The two spots were strategically chosen to cater to the diversity of locals and professionals on the Central Coast. Members have the choice of flexible remote work from the tranquil Killcare SLSC or the urban-inspired warehouse of Gosford, which allows members to ditch their commute and save hours in their days.
