There are long lunches… and then there’s this. Something truly extraordinary is happening just a stone’s throw from the Central Coast this October, and it’s one for the bucket list. Pearls and Plates is making its New South Wales debut with two exclusive, intimate long table lunches hosted by Broken Bay Pearl Farm.
Luxury Dining Experience on the Hawkesbury
Held at a secret location on the Hawkesbury River accessible only by water, this six-course feast will unfold right in the heart of working oyster country, with the Australian bush as your backdrop. It’s the kind of day that makes you pause. Breathe. Connect. And say yes to something a little bit magical.

And this is so much more than just a fancy lunch in a pretty spot. It’s a celebration of Australia’s pearling and oyster heritage, hosted by the two families who live and breathe it: the Liddons of WA’s Abrolhos Islands, and the Browns of Pearls of Australia. You’ll meet the farmers behind Australia’s native pearls, witness a live pearl harvest, and hear stories that have been passed down through generations – all while eating the freshest local produce, right where it was grown.
Pearls and Plates Long Lunch Near Sydney
Heading up the menu is renowned West Australian chef Guy Jeffreys, making a rare appearance on the east coast. Known for his commitment to sustainability and deep respect for seasonal, local produce, Jeffreys is curating a six-course culinary adventure that showcases the very best of the Hawkesbury and Central Coast. There will be Sydney Rock and rare Akoya oysters, alongside other local delicacies you won’t find on your average lunch run. Every course will be paired with elegant wines and cocktails, for a full sensory experience.

You’ll be transported to the secret riverfront homestead by boat from the Shellar Door at Broken Bay Pearl Farm. This stretch of the Hawkesbury is known as the heartland of the Sydney Rock oyster, and the energy of the place is quietly breathtaking. The team behind Broken Bay Pearl Farm will be on hand, sharing the story of the Akoya pearl, which is grown in the pristine estuaries of this region. You’ll have the opportunity to browse and purchase pieces from the familys’ exclusive jewellery collections, a luxe touch to an already unforgettable day.
“Pearls and Plates Broken Bay is more than a meal – it’s a homecoming. We’re honoured to share our family’s stories, our pearls, and the incredible produce of these waters with guests, right where it all began.” – James Brown, Managing Director of Pearls of Australia and third generation pearl farmer.
It’s not often you get to dine with the people who actually grow and harvest the produce on your plate – let alone do it on their land, in a space that’s so deeply personal. This one-in-a-lifetime event brings together live music, local art and immersive storytelling, with plenty of time to eat, sip and soak it all in.
