Catching a Central Coast taxi isn’t always an easy thing to do. For one, there doesn’t ever seem to be that many of them and when you do finally track one down, it’s hardly cheap.
The best way is to pre-book a service like Central Coast Taxis who run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Or take your chance on an Uber.
But for us, we like to dodge the whole late night taxi search palaver and opt for one of the many Central Coast pubs that offer a courtesy bus.
All aboard the party bus…
1. Kincumber Hotel
Not only do the Kincumber Hotel drop off locals to the area but the pub also offers pick up and drop off to Kincumber, Green Point, Saratoga, Davistown, Empire Bay, Bensville, Macmasters Beach, Copacabana, Avoca Beach, North Avoca and Terrigal. And it’s completely free!
It runs every day:
Monday to Thursday – 4 to 9 pm
Friday – 2pm to Midnight
Saturday – 12pm to Midnight
Sunday – 12pm to 10pm
2. Bateau Bay Hotel
Covering neighbourhoods from Wamberal all the way up to The Entrance and across into Killarney Vale, the Bateau Bay Hotel’s courtesy bus runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It runs until close but this is a popular service so it’s best to book when you arrive.
Running times:
Friday 4pm – CLOSE
Saturday 2pm – CLOSE
Sunday 2pm – CLOSE
Cheaper Alternative to a Central Coast Taxi
3. Ocean Beach Hotel, Umina
The Ocean Beach Hotel’s courtesy bus only runs on a Friday and Saturday night, which is pretty handy as that’s also when they have their $10 cocktail night. Both kick off at 4pm, with the bus dropping off to residents in Umina until close.
4. Hardys Bay Club
It’s a bit of a hush hush situation but Hardys Bay Club offers pick up and drop off to those in the Hardys Bay area. They will even pick-up and drop of for visitors coming to the Club via the ferry to Wagstaffe. It’s best to give them a call pre-visit to organise. But definitely worth it for the live music they have playing most weekends.
5. Davistown RSL
Not only a superior offering for parents thanks to a gated park and large sports field, but the Davistown RSL also runs a courtesy bus every day all day, and night. It runs thorughout the three villages – Davistown, Saratoga and Yattulunga – but also down into Green Point and Kincumber. Just book with reception as you go in. And pick up a timetable while you’re at it and you can time a pick up for your next visit also.
Congratulation!
