How good is the smell of fresh bread? Lucky for us, the Central Coast has no shortage of bakeries turning out the goods. Everything from family-run spots to fancy cafes with treats to rival Paris patisseries. You’ll find flaky croissants, golden sourdough, and sweets worth loosening the belt for.
Here are some of our favourites doing baked goods the right way.
Your Central Coast Bakery Hit List
Flour & Co, Toowoon Bay

A Toowoon Bay fave, Flour & Co are known for food that’s simple, fresh and done properly. Their Cali burrito has our hearts – packed with steak, guac, cheese, potato gems, pico de gallo and topped with chipotle sauce (just trust us). And the brekkie burrito has a solid fan base, best chased with a strong coffee.
They’ve got that sorted too, with their premium La Marzocco coffee machine luring people in like the caffeinated pied piper.

Their cabinets are packed with all the good stuff – chunky pies, buttery croissants, toasties, lamingtons, cookies, tarts – made with care by a team of pastry chefs and 100% delicious.
And before you head off, do yourself a favour and grab one of their mini chocolate sponges. They’re big enough to share, but you probably won’t want to.

Brown Sugar Bakery, Forresters Beach

It might look unassuming from the street, but don’t be fooled, the family-run Brown Sugar Bakery has been quietly nailing the art of baking for years now. Open 7 days, their award-winning pies, sourdoughs and artisan breads will make you see baked goods in a whole new light.
And as if the smell of freshly baked bread wasn’t enticing enough, they’ve got the kind of treats that make it impossible to walk out empty-handed – from finger buns and neenish tarts to the latest cruffin craze, everything here is done properly, by people who clearly love what they do. Their custom cakes are next-level too!

As Tash’s local bakery, she can personally vouch for her family favourites and attest that the extra kilos are totally worth it. Their weekly weekend treat is a freshly baked loaf of jalapeño sourdough. The kids’ ultimate favourite lunchbox fillers are a mushroom pizza for Tas and a Vegemite scroll for Mave.
Add in the post-surf pies and the absolute family crowd favourite, the banoffee tart, and it’s no surprise why they keep going back.

Bouffant, East Gosford

Well, Bouffant sure knows how to tempt a crowd, with pastries and baked goods as far as the eye can see. Their bright cabinet’s lined with croissants, doughnuts (we’ll take ours with an indulgent nutella filling, thanks), muffins, macarons, éclairs, and the cutest mini portugese tarts you’ve ever seen. There are pies in the mix too, a solid grab-and-go menu for brekkie and lunch, and don’t forget to order a coffee (make it iced if it’s hot out).

And just when you think you’ve seen it all, they’ve gone and launched a new range of delightfully fancy mousse cakes that look almost too good to eat. Rich yet light, they’re another excuse to treat yourself, and honestly, who’s saying no to that?

The Central Coast Bakery Guide
Burnt Honey Bakery, Copacabana
With a co-owner who cut their teeth learning the tricks of the pastry trade at Black Star Pastry, you just know Burnt Honey Bakery will be full of temptation. The vanilla slice alone is worth the drive: crisp puff pastry made with Pepe Saya butter, rich custard and fluffy whipped cream… hold us back! Add chocolate croissants (sorry, pain suisse), saffron buns, pastizzi, plus gluten-free and vegan treats so nobody misses out. They’re big on doing things right too, from sourcing local, ethical ingredients to ditching paper coffee cups (BYO mug or borrow one of theirs).

They keep the faves on regular rotation (take away that vanilla slice and there’d be uproar!), but they’re always experimenting, testing their skills and giving us plenty of new reasons to stop by. Grab a kanelbullar (that’s a Swedish cinnamon bun), borrow a mug and head across the road for an impromptu beach picnic.
1/224 Del Monte Pl, Copacabana
Bells Bakery, Killcare

Part of the renowned Bells at Killcare, Bells Bakery & Larder carries the same effortless polish the restaurant and boutique stay are known for. You’re spoilt for choice with house-made sourdough, pastries, pies, focaccia and the most divine carrot cake. Grab a coffee and take a seat overlooking the manicured gardens, or drive down to Killcare Beach or Hardy’s Bay to enjoy your treats with a view. You’ll feel a little fancy without even trying!
107 The Scenic Rd, Killcare Heights
Ministry Cafe, Wyoming

You’d be forgiven for thinking this is just another cafe, but Ministry is anything but ordinary. They’re known across the Coast for their delicate patisserie-style creations: mousse, ganache, sponge, confit and crèmeux layers that will have you drooling. Calling them ‘cakes’ doesn’t quite cut it – each one’s a miniature work of art, crafted with serious skill and plenty of love. Good luck choosing just one!
475 Pacific Hwy, Wyoming
Saddles Mount White

Up in the hinterland, Saddles has everything you could want. The restaurant is gorgeous (and honestly, that’s an understatement), but if they’re booked out, no fuss – the takeaway menu won’t leave you hungry! The kiosk turns out signature sourdough loaves baked fresh daily, buttery pastries, croissants, pies and our personal fave, the pork & sage sausage roll. Grab your goods, take a seat at one of the picnic tables beside the dam, and when you’re done, wander over and say g’day to the macaws.
20 Ashbrookes Rd, Mount White
Sonoma Bakery, Terrigal

A Sydney original with major pedigree, Sonoma opened on the Coast in 2022 – and no surprise, their Terrigal shop has been popular with locals ever since. Known for artisan sourdough and hand-crafted pastries, this Terrigal location also carries their exclusive “Bake-at-Home” range so you can recreate the magic at home. Think crusty loaves, flaky morning buns, pies, sausage rolls and more, all made to the same high standard that earned Sonoma its cult following.
