Let’s be honest, going out for a meal with kids is always a bit of a gamble. Will they sit still for five minutes? Probably not. Will your coffee still be hot when you drink it? Yeah, who are we kidding. But every now and then, you stumble across a cafe that gets it. Space to move. Somewhere to play. Food the kids will actually eat. Decent coffee for the grown-ups who are running on fumes. And thankfully, the Central Coast has plenty of options when it comes to kid-friendly cafes.
From small takeaway joints beside parks to cafes with full-blown playgrounds and room to roam, these are our top kid-friendly cafes we keep coming back to (10 + interest). The ones that make catching up with friends, surviving school hols or killing an hour before sport feel just that little bit easier.
So, let’s dive in and reveal our favourite kid-friendly cafes on the Central Coast. Which one gets your vote?
Kid-Friendly Cafes on the Central Coast (with space to play)
1. Warnies Cafe, Warnervale
If you’re craving space (and lots of it), Warnies Cafe is hard to beat. Set on a sprawling 8 acres of open land, it feels like a relaxed country escape. There’s grass to run on, fresh air, and a proper playground that gives kids room to burn off energy while you get to sit down for a moment.
Laid-back and family-first, Warnies offers plenty of seating inside & out so you never feel cramped, and an atmosphere that’s welcoming, not rushed. And for little (and big) train lovers, it’s located right opposite Warnervale Station, so there’s plenty of excitement watching the trains roll by between mouthfuls.

Yes, they’re still doing their famous crazy shakes (the ‘Smartie Pants’ is pure fun in a glass), but the menu goes well beyond that – we’re talking burgers, bowls, waffles, a smashed avo voted best on the coast, and a kids lunchbox that comes with a sandwich, popper, cookies and lollipop. They’re ticking all the right boxes.
But really, the real win here is the space, and the freedom for kids to just be kids. A stellar spot for all ages, and bonus points for being dog-friendly too.

2. The Pantry, Forresters Beach
Sometimes you want somewhere kid-friendly that doesn’t scream kid-friendly. The Pantry nails that balance. It’s the kind of place you’ll bring the kids one week, then book high tea with friends the next.
Set within The Quarters at Forresters Beach, The Pantry feels like it belongs in a tropical resort. There’s a sunny courtyard dotted with big umbrellas, views across the hotel pool that make it feel like you’re on holidays, and a kids’ play area positioned right there – but cleverly tucked off to the side, so no one’s giving you the side-eye when the kids excitement reaches new levels. Which it will, when they spot the two wriggly worm tunnels, affectionately named Noodles and Pickles! And the team love meeting your fur babies too, taking ‘dog-friendly’ a step further by handing out a free treat to every visiting pup.

Now, let’s talk food. Adults are looked after here, with an all-day brunch menu full of thoughtful, well-presented dishes – the kind you pause to admire before digging in – plus a cleverly curated drinks list that covers hot, cold and alcoholic. And the kids’ menu goes well beyond the usual nuggets-and-chips situation, with the cheese quesadilla and ‘little brekky’ certified hits with our little ones.
Then there’s the clincher for parents: every Tuesday, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult brunch meal. Enough said.
New owners Priya and Sri took over from the Meraki Group in June 2025, bringing the same warmth and playful energy The Pantry has become known for – and it shows in every detail.

3. Jasmine Greens Park Kiosk, Umina Beach
For a cafe that makes family outings feel easy, you’ll want Jasmine Greens Park Kiosk. Set within the popular Peninsula Recreation Precinct, it’s right in the thick of where kids want to be.
The fully-fenced playground is the real hero here, with separate play areas designed for different ages. Little ones can potter safely, bigger kids can climb and explore, and everyone stays within easy view of the tables. All this just a short stroll from Umina Beach, making Jasmine Greens a natural pit stop before or after a beach walk, park play or market wander. That’s right, it’s also perfectly placed for a refuel during the Umina Beach Markets, held on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Grab a coffee, feed the kids, then head back out to explore.

Add in the brand new regional skate park opened in 2024, and you’ve got a cafe that’s perfectly positioned for those long, cruisy Coastie days.

4. The Tame Fox, Erina
Ask any parent on the Coast for a kid-friendly cafe, and The Tame Fox is bound to get a mention. It delivers a proper brunch experience with plenty to keep the kids happy.
The outdoor playground is a big drawcard for local families – cubbies, slides, chalkboards and plenty of space to play – with colouring-in available for those quieter moments. There are tables both inside the enclosed playground and outside it, so you can choose how close you want to be to the action. And if you’ve got teens, or you’re flying solo, there’s upstairs seating away from the chaos. Because kid-friendly doesn’t mean you have to bring the kids!
The menu is packed with crowd-pleasers, from poke bowls and acai bowls to possibly one of the best bacon and egg rolls on the Central Coast (give it a go!). Kids are well looked after too, with mini acai bowls, waffles, babycinos and more – all pretty-as-a-picture and sure to satisfy tiny tastebuds. Opening from 7.30am with a big parking lot, dog-friendly outdoor areas and full accessibility, it’s an easy option from start to finish.

If you haven’t stumbled across The Secret Cafe yet, this is your sign. Tucked away and true to its name, it’s a relaxed, family-friendly spot with plenty of room for kids and a laid-back local feel.
A fave for families and mothers’ groups, it ticks a lot of practical boxes. Kids’ playground, fully fenced dog park, grassy yard with plenty of shade, and a mix of undercover and outdoor seating that makes it easy to settle in, rain or shine. It’s relaxed, unfussy and designed to let kids move without feeling like they’re in anyone’s way.
The kitchen is open seven days from 7am–3pm, serving all-day brekkie, lunch & an epic kids’ menu. Add great coffee and well-priced meals built around fresh, locally sourced produce, and it’s easy to see why families keep coming back.
With a vibe that feels easy rather than hectic, The Secret Cafe is ideal for slow mornings, casual lunches, or those days when you want somewhere low-key that still caters well to kids.

With a dream setup inside the big, gated Rotary Park (yep, next to the fire station), Parklife is LIFE! The food’s fresh and made to order, the coffee will wake you up, and the kids snack pack is a crowd fave – veggie sticks, hummus, rice crackers, cheese, sultanas, with the option to chuck in a boiled egg. Parklife also hosts regular kid and family-friendly events collab’ing with other local legends. And if you’re a Coasties Card holder, don’t forget to flash your card for 10% off.
There’s plenty of deck seating at this kiosk-style cafe, or grab your order to-go and let the kids loose – because it’s the park that really sets this place apart. It caters to all ages, with a pirate ship for the toddlers, flying fox and climbing frame for bigger kids, plus mats and toys laid out under the trees for the real littlies. A firm fave and one of the most popular kid-friendly cafes on the Central Coast.

7. Willow & Bean, Bateau Bay
Tucked away in Bateau Bay, Willow & Bean is a spacious cafe that works beautifully for families. There’s a thoughtfully set-up indoor play space with just enough toys to keep kids entertained (without overwhelming the room) and a small fence around it, making it easy to actually sit and enjoy your coffee. The menu’s a hit with both kids and adults – and fair warning, the treat cabinet is very hard to resist (enter at your own risk).

Gorgeous and practical kids play cafe at Willow & Bean 8. Betty’s Backyard Bunker, Wyoming
With retro 50s diner meets old-school corner shop vibes, Betty’s Backyard Bunker packs a lot of fun into a small space. Outside there are kids’ tables with colouring-in and toys, and once inside, little eyes tend to light up at the playful decor, ice cream cabinet and treats aplenty. It’s unapologetically nostalgic – with burgers and shakes you have to order – and it’s also fully licensed and makes a mean cocktail for the grown-ups. Grab a takeaway coffee when you’re done & walk across the road to Maidens Brush Reserve to burn off any extra energy.

9. Like Minds, Avoca
True to its name, Like Minds is a deeply community-minded cafe where kids are greeted with the same friendly energy as everyone else. The coffee (by Legend in Gossy) always hits the spot, and the menu is a lesson in delicious, thoughtful sustainability without feeling preachy. Like Minds regularly hosts pop-up farmers markets, community collabs and local events that are worth dropping by. Keep an eye on their socials, there’s usually something good brewing.
Unpretentious and easygoing, the leafy front garden is a haven for curious explorers. And don’t forget to snap a pic in front of their iconic larger-than-life wall mural, painted by artist Nastia Gladushchenko.
One little tip, there’s not much indoor seating, so have a back-up in mind if the rains are here.

It’s an easy pit stop if you’re heading to The Art House!

11. Bamboo Buddha, Holgate
Bamboo Buddha feels like a little hidden oasis, and kids tend to feel it too. There’s koi fish to watch, water dragons to spot, and plenty of quiet nooks where little ones can slow down and explore while you enjoy a coffee or bite to eat. It’s calm, leafy and a great option when you’re after something a bit more zen – plus the day bed is a winner for a mid-morning chill.
