Best Cafes in Toukley
Blackfinn Espresso
Â

If you’ve been to Toukley lately, chances are you’ve already grabbed a coffee from Blackfinn Espresso – or at least heard someone rave about it. Since opening in 2021, this open-air espresso bar has captured the hearts and stomachs of many Coasties. Pop by for consistently great coffee, epic toasties and a team that remembers your name. Kids, dogs, grandparents… everyone’s welcome here, with puppuccinos on standby for your four-legged friends. And good news: they’re expanding, with a second spot opening in Killarney Vale at the end of June.
The food menu’s packed with the kind of stuff that hits just right – like loaded toasties (try the brie with prosciutto and cranberry, you’ll thank us later), or their Biscoff protein shake with a splash of cheeky Golden Gaytime protein (yes, it’s a thing, and yes, you should try it). Their canned drinks have built a bit of a cult following, with people coming from across the Central Coast – and even Sydney – just to get their hands on them. And if you’re planning an event, they’ll even make you a custom batch!
They’re open every single day of the year, which makes them dangerously reliable when you’re hanging for a caffeine hit on a public holiday. So if you haven’t been yet, now’s your excuse… just don’t blame us if you leave with a six-pack of canned lattes and a new toastie addiction.

Mexicoast Cantina

If you know, you know. Mexicoast isn’t just somewhere to eat – it’s where the locals go when they’re craving a proper feed with flavour, colour and a side of fun. This buzzing cantina brings a little Southern California–meets–Baja Mexico energy to the Coast with Day of the Dead art, neon lights, and staff who make work look way too much fun!
The menu’s loaded with all your faves – we’re talking their famous boom boom tacos with housemade chipotle mayo, slow cooked adobo beef burritos with pico de gallo and guac, and charred corn that never disappoints. Add a margi (or three), and you’ve got yourself a night. It’s loud, it’s lively, and it’s the kind of place you end up staying longer than planned – because the vibe’s just that good.
Owned by two local couples with a love of food and community, Mexicoast is built on good times, bold flavours, and warm hospitality. And they’ve made it a point to cater for everyone – with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options that don’t feel like an afterthought.
A proper Toukley institution, Mexicoast makes it easy to settle in and feel right at home.
