Here on the Central Coast, we are absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to reformer pilates studios. We have done the hard yards for you and have the low-down on some of our favourite places to get your plank and pike on.
The beauty of reformer pilates is that you can get strong and lean laying down. Yes, you read that right. Laying down.
Being an avid fan of the reformer, and a self-proclaimed addict, I can vouch for the strength and flexibility I have gained from my time on the bed.
Instructors at most studios are able to work with people from any skill level, whether it’s your first class or you’re a regular, there is always a progression or a prop to add to increase the level of intensity and push you further than your last class.
Reformer Pilates Central Coast
One thing I love about reformer pilates is that it truly is a community, no matter where you train, you often see the familiar faces of your instructors teaching classes across a range of studios.
So, grab yourself some grippy socks and get yourself booked into a bed. It’s an obsession you won’t regret.
Compass Pilates
At Compass Pilates Reformer Studio they believe in the power of movement to heal and transform. Their mission is to empower individuals to achieve optimal physical and mental well-being in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Founder and Head Instructor, Robyn Linkhorn, breaks this down with the studio by-line “Move Better, Feel Better, Live Better” living and breathing this philosophy, and striving to foster a sense of community and support, inspiring members to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Robyn is passionate about making Reformer Pilates accessible to Central Coast residents and with two studios located conveniently in the heart of Long Jetty and Erina, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. With 20 beds available and over 55 classes per week across the two studios, you can join classes 7 days a week!Â
Class names refer to the points of the Compass – Nourish (North), Sculpt (South), Energise (East) and Warrior (West) and are a nod to Robyn’s father who worked in the marine industry. These points are seen on the ‘Koru’ from Robyn’s Kiwi heritage, which is used in the logo.Â
Classes are 45 minutes long and designed to be layered making them suitable for people of all fitness levels and abilities. From first-timers to seasoned practitioners who have caught the Pilates bug, everyone is supported to achieve their goals.Â
Members say they are obsessed with Reformer Pilates and the Compass Community so if you want to find out what it’s all about you can start with an Intro Pass, which gives you unlimited access to classes at both studios for 14 days for only $50.Â
Once you too are hooked, you can choose from a variety of membership options to suit your lifestyle based on how often you plan to attend the studios.Â
