Breweries on the Central Coast NSW

If you’re yet to discover the world of independent breweries right here on the Central Coast, we’ve got all the details for you to sit back and enjoy the ales. Here’s your updated guide to the best local breweries slinging cold ones across the Central Coast in 2025.

Six String Brewing, Erina

Six String Taproom at The Sawmill in Erina
Now Open – Six String Taproom at The Sawmill.

Now pouring at their new home in Erina, Six String Brewing has taken everything locals loved about the OG site and turned it up to eleven. More space, more flavour, more atmosphere – this is the heartbeat of the Central Coast craft beer scene.

Located at The Sawmill, the purpose-built space is all about raising the bar – literally and figuratively. You’ll find 16 taps flowing daily (plus local wine and craft spirits for the cocktail lovers), a pool table, a dog-friendly beer garden, and a modern Filipino-inspired menu packed with big, satisfying flavours. Brewery tours will be back soon, but for now, swing by for a pint, grab a seat overlooking the tanks, and watch the brewers in action while you tuck into a decent feed.

Live music’s back in a big way too, with a strong focus on original artists and local talent, true to Six String’s roots in both beer and bands.

Born from a home-brewing hobby, Six String has built a loyal following with its hop-heavy IPAs, crisp lagers, and seasonal releases. You’ll spot their beers on tap at venues right across the Coast, Newcastle and Sydney. But the real standout? Coastie Lager. Part of their core range, it’s the highest-selling beer at Polytec Stadium – and at the 2021 Australian International Beer Awards, it took out the Trophy for Best International Lager. That’s a step above gold!

If you’re a local, Coastie Lager should be top of your list – it’s the beer by Coasties, for Coasties.

Hawkesbury Brewing Co. might’ve started in the bottle shops, but their Lisarow brewery is where the real magic happens – and it’s well worth a visit.

Spacious, modern and always buzzing with activity, the brewery’s taproom is home to a rotating selection of fresh, on-tap-only beers you won’t find anywhere else – plus some delicious non-alcoholic options too. Their friendly crew are more than happy to chat you through the options (and offer up a few cheeky samples) before you settle in with your perfect pint.

It’s not just about the beer either – this spot’s built for the whole crew. They’ve got a massive screen showing live sport, Monday movie nights where kids eat free, and coin-operated rides the kids can jump on for free (which, let’s be real, is almost worth the trip alone!). Wednesday’s is their lively trivia night, and Sunday hosts a meat raffle which supports a different local cause each week, so you can have your burger and feel good about it, too!

The food’s simple, tasty & hits the spot, and it’s surprisingly well-priced given the generous servings.

Whether you’re a local who’s just discovered it or a regular working your way through their brews, Hawkesbury Brewing Co. is the kind of place where a quick beer turns into an arvo well spent.

Bay Rd Brewing, Gosford

Your local, overlooked by local artist Grant Molony’s octopus

With a prime spot just minutes from the waterfront, Bay Rd Brewing has become a go-to for locals chasing something a little different on the drinks menu.

The beers are brewed on-site and poured fresh from the tanks, with a rotating line-up of small batch drops, guest taps, and cider to choose from. You’ll also find a creative cocktail menu -including a monthly cocktail inspired by cupcake flavours from Just Frosted (yep, you read that right). The flavour is voted on by the public and changes each month, so there’s always something new to try.

Local artist Grant Molony has adorned the interior walls with his incredible artwork, which inspired their unique octopus-shaped beer paddles!

The venue itself is bright and relaxed, with indoor and outdoor seating, and a few games to keep the kids entertained while you catch up over a drink. It’s dog-friendly too, and often hosts live music, trivia nights and community events. And while they don’t do food on-site, you won’t go hungry as there’s always a rotation of foods trucks outside.

Bay Rd keeps things fresh, fun and totally local – and is well worth a visit next time you’re in Gosford.

Central Coast Brewery, Tuggerah

Central Coast Brewery Tuggerah
Come for the beers, stay for the darts!

Mates and longtime brew enthusiasts Duane and Adrian have been crafting beer since 2009 – and in 2021, they took over the reins at Central Coast Brewery.

Tucked away in the Tuggerah Business Park, they’ve turned this spot into a welcoming hangout for your midweek knock-off or weekend catch-up. There’s always a great selection on tap, with takeaway sales available too. Grab a frothy, have a crack at darts, and relax.

They also run tasting events, behind-the-scenes brewhouse tours, and “meet the brewer” experiences – and if you’re planning a party, you can even book out the venue for a private function.

You’ll spot their brews on tap at local venues too, including Mexicoast Cantina in Toukley (a Coasties Mag fave).

Pop in, say g’day to the boys, and learn more about their passion for sharing great beer with the Coast and beyond.

Block ’N Tackle Brewery, Kincumber

Block N Tackle Kincumber Brewery, Central Coast
Central Coast boutique micro-brewery, Block ‘N Tackle in Kincumber

Block ‘n Tackle is the kind of brewery that feels like it was made for Coasties – it’s all about good beer and good people.

You’ll find this boutique micro-brewery tucked behind the trees in Kincumber’s industrial area. There are 12 taps, two old-school English hand pumps, and everything’s brewed right there on site – cider included. You can actually see the tanks while you sip your paddle. How’s that for fresh?

Their brews proudly celebrate the Coast’s shipbuilding history, with names like Scud and Jon Piper giving a nod to local Brisbane Waters legends, and they proudly stock local brands such as Little Creek Cheese, Loveshak Soaps, HotNuts, Madhouse Beef Jerky and Salt Pig Deli.

The kitchen’s open Thursday to Sunday with tasty bites, and there’s live music on weekends. The taproom is family-friendly, and your furry mates are welcome too. They run regular Saturday brewery tours, so if you’re keen to learn a bit more about what goes into your schooner, that’s worth checking out.

And if you’re a regular or just like a good deal, the Paddle Club is a no-brainer: think discounted paddles, free tasters, a birthday beer, and a few cheeky surprises throughout the year.

Block ‘n Tackle isn’t about flash or fanfare – it’s just a good local brewery doing what it does best. Cold beers, good chats, and a warm welcome every time.

Have a yarn with Corey, owner of Native Botanical Brewery

Taking over the former Six String Brewing site, Native Botanical Brewery is serving up something refreshingly different – beer that celebrates the flavours of the land, with a true-blue Aussie twist.

Their brews are crafted with native botanicals like lemon myrtle, wattleseed and finger lime, bringing something new and exciting to the Coast’s beer scene. Their menu also combines the rich flavours and traditions of Indigenous bush foods, so grab a slice of pizza & have a yarn.

The space has had a refresh, but still holds onto that warm, industrial charm – with plenty of room to pull up a seat inside or out, relax with a paddle, and enjoy the ever-evolving tap list. It’s laid-back, family-friendly, and a great new go-to for Coasties keen to try something a little different. The native theme runs through their food menu too, making it a full sensory experience, so grab a slice of pizza & settle in.

Bringing you bush food-inspired brews, it’s no surprise that the team here is passionate about sustainability and local sourcing – so every beer comes with a side of good vibes and green thinking.

Whether you’re into bold new flavours or just looking for your next Sunday arvo hang, Native Botanical is a welcome new face on the local brewery trail.
