Join us on a bushwalk in Kincumba Mountain on the Central Coast
Kincumba Mountain on the NSW Central Coast is not only a haven for mountain bikers but also has many bushwalking options to choose from for the avid and enthusiast hikers out there amongst us. As nature lovers here at Coasties Mag, we recently took on Glassons Trail with our young family. So come dive in, and discover the delights of this trail.
The essentials you need to know about Glassons Trail in Kincumba Mountain Reserve:
Distance: roughly 3.7km
Duration to complete: about 1.5 hours
Difficulty: moderate

They say Glassons Trail is a moderate hike, although take “moderate” loosely; we completed it with a five and two year old in tow, with (mostly) minimal whinging about wanting to be carried! Which is always a win.
This is an acceptable 3.7 km out-and-back trail that takes you through varying terrain and landscape. The kids particularly loved spotting the Burrawong aka “Grug” trees along the way and pulling up for a picnic perched on the top of some boulders about midway through the walk, just before reaching the overflow car park and just after taking in the vista at the Crawford Lookout.

At the top of the trail, you’ll come to the vast grassed picnic area at Honeman’s Rock where you’ll also find the mud-brick buildings of the old Kincumba Mountain Kiosk. A unique venue established in 1985, which used to cater for intimate weddings, functions and events. Despite it no longer being in use, it’s a fascinating building nonetheless. Up here too, is where you’ll find the loos.
If you’re doing this walk sans kids we will say this – the solitude on this trail is a treasure, it’s rare that you’ll encounter others along the path, making it a true haven for those seeking a peaceful, uncrowded walk. All up this walk can easily be done in about an hour and 15 minutes. Likely a bit longer if doing a family walk and picnicking along the way.
