Join us as we explore the Central Coast Makers Trail. Â
It’s the most beautiful collaboration between local makers that’s quietly been making a name for itself right under our noses.
In 2022 the Central Coast Makers Trail doubled in size from four to eight artisan producers and since then has grown to 13 makers including Adri’s Gingerbread, Distillery Botanica, Amber Lane Distillery, and Legend Coffee and Culture. Most recently (in the summer of 2024) adding the formidable Eastcoast Beverages to the fold.
There is no doubt that some of the Coast’s biggest players in the industry make up the Central Coast Makers Trail. And, here at Coasties Mag, we simply love getting out there to explore the self-drive food, drink, agritourism and aquaculture journey. And, what a journey it is. So if you’re looking for something to do, the Central Coast Makers Trail has you covered. Whether you have a few hours or an entire weekend to explore, the Trail is the perfect family adventure.

Starting down south at Mooney Mooney and traversing our region right up to Wyong Creek in the North. You’ll get to meet skilled artisans and award-winning providores. You’ll enjoy everything from gourmet tastings to voyages of discovery, family-friendly foraging, bespoke couple and group experiences – it’s without a doubt a hands-on epicurean delight.
The self-indulgent food and drink discovery trail will thrill you with new sensations and behind-the-scenes experiences. It has to be said – the Central Coast’s hidden gems are a secret no more! There really is something for everyone.

Central Coast Makers Trail
Here’s just a snippet of what to expect:
There’s no better way to soak up the Central Coast summer than with a visit to two standout stops on the Trail: Herbie’s Spices and Sydney Oyster Farm Tours. These two destinations are bringing the best of summer and local flavours.
Sydney Oyster Farm Tours on the Hawkesbury River promise you gourmet indulgence and are truly unforgettable and immersive. After a boat tour donning waders you’ll enjoy the ‘Immerse Yourself’ in-water experience sampling freshly shucked oysters straight from the source at your in-water table on the banks of the Hawkesbury.

Meanwhile, Herbie’s Spices is a haven for anyone who loves to cook (or eat!). The aromatic Charmhaven store is packed with premium-quality spices, seasonings, and blends that inspire kitchen creativity and will take your summer cooking experience to the next level.
So, how do we marry the Hawkesbury in the south with Charmhaven to the north? Simple: with grilled oysters! Top freshly shucked oysters with a mix of Herbie’s harissa blend, olive oil, and lemon juice, and pop them under the grill for a minute or two. The result? A bold, zesty bite that captures the essence of summer. Perfection!

When it comes to iconic family-owned businesses on the Coast, two big names stand out: Broken Bay Pearl Farm and Eastcoast Beverages. These are a great place to start if you want to experience life as a maker on the Central Coast.

Hidden away in the green hills of Kulnura, Eastcoast Beverages  has been keeping Coasties refreshed since the ‘60s. This third-generation family business grows their own citrus, squeezes their own juice, and bottles it right there on-site – just the way it should be!
You can jump on a behind-the-scenes tour to see where it all starts (hint: a whole lot of fruit trees), watch the juice-making magic happen, and finish up with a tasting fresh from the press. And if you’re feeling a bit peckish, their onsite café Bambinos has you sorted with a menu full of citrusy sweet treats and savoury bites. It’s local, it’s family-run, and it’s the real deal.

Down on the Hawkesbury at Mooney Mooney, Broken Bay Pearl Farm is serving up a one-of-a-kind experience at the only working pearl farm in NSW. These guys know their stuff when it comes to growing beautiful Aussie Akoya pearls, and they’re more than happy to share (some of) their secrets.
Hop aboard a scenic boat tour, meet the passionate farming team, learn how these beautiful pearls are cultivated, and check out the Shellar Door for some serious sparkle – and maybe a few freshly shucked oysters while you’re at it. It’s relaxed, it’s fascinating, and the views aren’t too shabby either. Chances are, you’ll be tempted to take home a shimmering souvenir, too.
