Coming off the back of a wildly successful 2023, Coastal Twist Festival is back on the Central Coast for 2024. In its fourth year, the festival is earmarked to be 6 days of vibrant colour and creativity explosions.   Happening all across the Central Coast Coastal Twist kicks off on Tuesday, October 1st and will be taking the Coast by storm until their final (and crowning jewel) “Coastie Carnie Fair Day” which takes place on Sunday, October 6th at the Peninsula Recreation Precinct in Umina Beach.

The 2023 event saw a whopping 70% of the ticketed events across Gosford, Ettalong, Woy Woy and Umina completely sell out, including the cabaret and dance parties. With Fair Day alone attracting a phenomenal 6,500+ visitors. Amplifying “diversity as the norm” in our region the festival which is already entrenched as a unique quirky, kitsch Australiana festival promises an unforgettable celebration of LGBTQIA+ talent and artistry.

Across its 11 events, expect top-tier performers and as always groundbreaking entertainment, celebrating both local and national LGBTQIA+ talent. With festival creative director Glitta Supernova promising “Magic, Music, and Mayhem”!

Headliners this year include international cabaret royalty Fez Faanana (Shivanah) and Mark “Captain Kidd” Winmill from Briefs International, Betty Grumble and Demon Derriere. From boundary-pushing acts, and body-positivity, to stereotype-busting messages to genre-defying performances, Coastal Twist will have it all.  Music lovers will be thrilled with headliner KAIIT, the ARIA Award-winning neo-soul and hip-hop sensation as well as pop artists Vetta Borne and Greg Gould (runner-up on Australia’s Got Talent). Not to be forgotten, the drag scene will come alive with top 4 on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Molly Poppinz and Vybe, Audley Enough, and Dandrogyny.

Coastal Twist Festival Returns to Central Coast in 2024

“This year’s theme is “Rise & Shine” a mantra that captures our Coastie community’s spirit of resilience and renewal, symbolised by the phoenix, and celebrates our transformative power and unity in the face of adversity through vibrant queer expression and collective growth,” states Festival Director Glitta Supernova.

As with every year Coastal Twist offers a diverse range of free and ticketed events across various Central Coast venues, including live cabaret, dance parties, youth events, a film night, senior activities, art exhibitions and more. The key message is that everybody is welcome to join in and celebrate the brilliance and creativity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Coastal Twist is on a mission to create a happier, healthier and more welcoming Central Coast for ALL.  

So folks, you know what to do: grab your bio-glitter, put on your dancing shoes, and let’s paint the town with rainbows! The magic of Coastal Twist Festival is coming very soon and the countdown is on!
