Looking for the best bike paths on the Central Coast for kids and families? We’ve rounded up five of our faves – they’re scenic, they’re comfortable, and they’re absolutely worth a spin.
These family-friendly bike rides have been road-tested by our own kids (aged three through nine), and they always come up as the top paths to pedal. So you know they tick the boxes for fun, practicality, and the all-important playground stops.
Five Scenic Bike Paths Central Coast Families Will Love
Ettalong to Umina
Start your bike ride at Ettalong Ferry Wharf, a short cruise from The Galleria and a bunch of cute cafes – perfect for a post-ride milkshake bribe (or, let’s be real, pre-ride too). The shared path to Umina is pretty flat and lined with water views and easy pit stops. Make it to Ocean Beach and a swim might just be on the cards. It’s one of the most scenic family bike paths on the Central Coast, and a great confidence booster for new riders.
Brisbane Water Cycleway
A smooth, mostly flat ride that hugs the shoreline from Gosford to Woy Woy, this path is perfect for confident little riders. Expect vast water views, fun playground detours, and cafés at both ends – plus the novelty of pedalling across the Spike Milligan Bridge. Make a day of it with lunch in Woy Woy and, if those little legs have had enough, you can always hop on the ferry or train back to Gosford.
Tuggerah Lake Bike Path
This 12km route stretches from Echo Point at Chittaway Bay to Picnic Point Reserve at The Entrance, with plenty to keep your whole crew happy as Larry. The brilliant thing about this family-friendly Central Coast bike path is that you can start at any point and go as far as the kids’ legs (and energy levels) allow. You’ll find heaps of playgrounds for the kids to stop at, plus coffee shops and cafes galore for all your caffeine & snack needs. If you’ve got older kids or more experienced riders, you can continue riding through The Entrance and loop back via Blue Bay and Toowoon Bay (just a heads-up, there’s some road riding along this part).
Budgewoi Lake Foreshore Path
Quiet, peaceful and surrounded by nature, this lakeside path is one of the Central Coast’s best-kept secrets. It runs along the water between Budgewoi and Toukley, offering a calm, flat ride with lake views and plenty of shade. With picnic spots, grassy reserves and a stack of birdwatching hideouts along the way, it’s the perfect pick for slow-paced rides and nature-loving kids.
Kincumber to Davistown
A fun (and flat) 10km return ride that’s perfect for families with young kids. Park in Kincumber and pedal your way along the waterfront to Davistown for a chill lunch at the Davo – or you can go the other way, and finish at the Kincumber Hotel. The best part about this track is that there are playgrounds at both ends (and one in the middle), making it an easy win if your little riders need a break. If you’re looking for an easy-going cycle route with minimal hills and maximum chill, this is it.

Whether your little legends are rocking training wheels or you’re towing a tagalong, these family-friendly Central Coast bike paths are all about low-stress, high-fun outdoor time. Pack the snacks, pump the tyres, and off you go!
