For all the parents juggling a dozen and 10 things at once, the task of finding and connecting with quality local providers who offer incredibly enriching activities run by people you can really trust can seem like… well, another daunting task, right? A disco party with age appropriate music, an art class they’ll be able to embrace, a magic show that won’t be surprisingly scary or a tutor that’s truly terrific. And what about keeping it local and finding a way to support the community, too? Could it be done?

Central Coast mum Renu Wasal thought so. Sifting through hundreds of social media posts to find activities for her kids, she found the whole process overwhelming and cluttered. So, she set out to ease that process for everyone involved and, with community at the core of her heart, has even found a way to give back.

In 2023 she launched GoLove, which is an online, curated marketplace connecting parents and schools with educational activities and things to do. From school holiday surfing programs at Avoca; art classes in Terrigal; slime making experiences and magic shows for school fairs and incursions; face painting for birthday parties and even fire safety educational experiences, there’s a phenomenal range of activities to choose from and know that you can trust.

So, how does it work? Parents, schools and even corporate and community groups can easily jump onto the website, enter the age range, experience type and postcode you’re looking for and then take your pick from the list of suggested activities.

Local providers list their services for free and know they’re able to connect with families and groups that will love what they have to offer.

Renu and her team personally assess every provider to ensure they’re not only vetted, qualified and cleared but also offer enriching experiences that children will enjoy, giving parents peace of mind.

“My story is no different to parents who are constantly looking for activities for their kids, run by good providers you can trust,” she told Coasties.

“You shouldn’t have to go onto social media to broadcast to strangers that you’re looking for a birthday party activity or private tutor… with GoLove you can feel comfortable, you can explore and book trusted experiences and activities all in the one place.

“Supporting children is at the core of everything we do. We’re not just a marketplace; we’re a community that cares,” Renu said.

Parents also love the idea that, with each booking, they contribute to their chosen local school without having to juggle another commitment. It’s Renu’s way of creating a ripple effect of connection and support in communities: GoLove not only supports small businesses but gives back to local schools too.

“It’s like a triangle of love,” Renu said. “When you book an activity through GoLove, 15 per cent of the revenue goes back to local registered Parent and Citizen Committees, chosen by the parents and schools booking the experience. It’s about creating a win-win for everyone.”

As a mum, Renu is on a mission to level the playing field for all children, irrespective of their backgrounds.

“I grew up with parents who believed in making a difference in the community. That spirit is in my DNA. I want every child to have equal access to experiences and opportunities,” she told Coasties.

“And above all, we want parents to feel comfortable exploring and booking activities, knowing they’re in good hands.”
