Playground Upgrades on the Central Coast
There are eleven local playgrounds and playspaces across the Central Coast that the Council has recently refurbished and upgraded. Local families and the community will be able to utilise the more accessible and user-friendly spaces, with the project focusing on upgrades and, where necessary, removal of old, vandalised or broken equipment. Moving forward the Council plans to ensure ongoing scheduled maintenance.
The facelift for these local Central Coast playgrounds and parks has taken place since February of 2024 with all completed by this month, July 2024. The most exciting news is that 3 more parks have been added to the list for their turn too. The Council recognising the importance playspaces have for children and families in our community. From physical, emotional, social, and cognitive skills development to being a meeting space for the local community and a regular go-to for parents whose kids need to burn off some energy.

From double slides to climbing walls, to upgraded swings and new nest swings. Most have new rubber softfall pathways or have it beneath the play area. There are also height charts, climbing nets and bridges, sensory boards and even bike tracks and flying foxes. Not to be missed off the list are rockers, spinners, fireman’s poles and seesaws. One park even boasts wooden drums, timber balance logs and a toddler rope balance course. Some of the carparks have been upgraded to include the addition of disabled parking spots, new pathways and sandstone seating.
Two additional locations – Bushlands Avenue in Springfield and Isaac Park in Hamlyn Terrace – have also been selected for upgrades under the same renewal program. Not only will the playgrounds be getting an upgrade but fitness equipment, including parallel bars, pull-up bars, monkey bars, pull-up rings, step-up plate and dip bars will be added at Isaac Park in Hamlyn Terrace.Â
New park at Kariong, Central Coast
Aside from the above renwal program is the exciting new local playground that has been completed in Kariong on Curringa Road. The park was designed with feedback from the community and is located alongside the ever-popular pump track and skatepark which were newly completed last year. With sheltered seating, water refill stations and plenty of equipment for all ages from toddlers to pre teens as well as being connected to an open grassed area makes this park one for the whole community to enjoy.
