When it comes to Avoca restaurants, there might not be as much choice as in neighbouring Terrigal but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality.
Here you’ll find some of the best restaurants and cafes on the Central Coast. Here’s a few of our favourites to book into on your next visit
Avoca Restaurants
Shady Palms
At the top of our Avoca restaurants list is definitely Shady Palms, an incredible eatery found just outside of Avoca on Round Drive. Surrounded by tiered gardens, the outdoor space is outstanding, with everything from booths to secret little romantic nooks. The menu heroes woodfire pizzas thanks to an outdoor pizza oven. There’s also seafood, tacos and ceviche. The cocktails are imaginative and the wine list lengthy. Children are allowed but this is a spot for adults to play once the sun goes down.

Avoca Restaurants with a Sea View
Avoca Beach House
Kid-FriendlyÂ
Avoca Beach House, a second-level restaurant just above the beach has panoramic views of the full stretch of Avoca Beach down to North Avoca. There’s  balcony seating and it’s realty the best spot to enjoy a seafood platter and a bottle of beautiful wine. This is a child-friendly Avoca restaurant with kids menu available.  Best to pre-book though as it can get very busy and the outdoor seating is prime real estate.
Avoca Beach Hotel
Kid-FriendlyÂ
Found just outside of Avoca is Avoca Beach Hotel and its Saltwater Bistro offers a family-friendly place to eat and drink. It’s surrounded by manicured gardens, with on-site accommodation also available. This is really a pub grub-type of restaurants, with burgers and shnitty making up the main menu. There’s a decent kid’s menu and every meal comes with a free drink. Courtesy bus available to take you back into the heart of Avoca and surrounds.
Avoca Beach Seafoods
Open from morning until night seven days a week, the award-winning Avoca Beach Seafoods has the best fish and chips in the area, if not in the whole of the Central Coast. A bag is perfect for lunch after a morning on the beach or as the sun goes down. Try the fried NZ mussels. Absolutely incredible, especially when paired with a crisp glass of wine. If you sit outside, it’s BYO.
Avoca Surf Club
Looking for a casual eat but with that incredible view? Then join the locals at the Sunsets Bistro, which is found just upstairs of the Avoca Surf Club. It’s kid-friendly here, has a huge balcony with plenty of seating and you’ll get all the all the pub favourites like fish and chips, burgers and pizzas and at a super-reasonable price. A winner at high season when everywhere is full booked.
Chopstix
A sit-down meal or a takeaway, Chinese restuarant Chopstix, found in the centre of Avoca’s town, is always a favourite. The menu features everything from king prawns mixed with asparagus to King po-style chicken. Anything you can think of will likely be on the menu. They also offer takeaway family meal deals for $69 and it’s enough to feed a family of four and have some left over.
Avoca Cafes
Point Café
Point Café has the best view of Avoca Beach, with the licenced café found just beneath Avoca Surf Life Saving.  It’s a great spot for breakfast but we like to visit for lunch, with shell crab tacos and poke bowls on the menu here, And big jugs of cocktails. There’s plenty of seating inside and out, and even in high season you can grab a seat.
Like Minds
Like Minds is a bit of an institution in Avoca, with it being one of very few zero-waste cafes on the Coast. You never know what’s going to be pulled from the oven on your arrival. Sweet feta tarts, piping hot berry muffins and anything in between. All packed with herbs and vegies from their garden. Inside seating is limited but there’s a big garden. And on Fridays, the owners host falafel or pasta nights.
Avoca Sands Café & Bar
Kid-FriendlyÂ
Pet-Friendly
Avoca Sands Café & Bar is our #1 breakfast spot in Avoca Beach, all thanks to their outstanding bacon and egg rolls. They’re heaving with crispy bacon, fried eggs and a homemade relish. The guys here have their own coffee blend and we reckon it’s up there with some of the best on the Coast.  A fantastic combination after an early morning ocean swim.
