Autumn has arrived and with it a spate of new businesses on the Central Coast.
And seeing that Coasties is all about fuelling the #supportlocal movement in our region, we thought it would only be right to give them a good old shout out.
From a brand-new Toukley bar to a pawesome doggy café, here’s a full list of the newest openings to visit this March.
Before you dart straight out to check out the most anticipated opening of 2021, The Beachie, formerly known as the Beachcomber Hotel, doesn’t open until mid-March but what an opening it is going to be. The sneak peeks of the renovation has got us all excited: think luxury Mykonos beach bar. The team have also been working tirelessly on a creating a stellar menu and carefully crafted cocktails. This is going to be a game changer of a venue.
This Erina hot chicken shop has been an instant hit since opening last month. Roast chicken and chips (with chicken salt, obvs), hot chook rolls and everything chicken-related in between. A must visit. Even if just for the name. Absolutely genius.
Tropicana Pizza Pizza, Woy Woy
Okay, not quite new but Tropicana Pizza Pizza have moved into a brand-new venue, levelling up with a spacious beer garden and larger space. Best bit? Their new building, found at 61 Trafalgar Avenue in Woy Woy, is also a piece of art. Quite literally, with celebrated artist Leigh Kaplan having worked on a mural outside.
Hernando’s Hideaway, Gosford
Originally based in Long Jetty, the Hernando’s Hideaway team have now arrived in East Gosford on Victoria Street. Different location but still the same authentic Mexican food and awesome margs. Booking is essential.
After a lengthy closure, the Yattalunga General Store will reopen on Monday 15 March, with a firm focus in becoming the #1 dog café on the Coast. The new owner, Ely Vee, is behind leading online dog store, Cute AF Pets. Expect a full doggy menu including Puppacinos, dog smoothie bowls, woofles, dog beers and pawseco. Yes, you heard that right, pawseco. Brilliant. Don’t be jealous though, there’ll also be coffee from a local bean roasters and a whole range of healthy eats.
Want to support local and save big on the Central Coast?
The Coasties Card unlocks deals in a 145 local businesses.
Best bit? Annual membership is $25 and there’s no cap on how many times you claim those deals.
Talk about the trifecta: Waterfront views, wood fired pizzas and a seriously lengthy cocktail list. Coastal Aroma is a fantastic addition to The Entrance scene.
Central Coast Commons, Gosford
If your 2020 obsession with washing your hands has rolled into ’21 then it’s time to visit this newly opened artisan soap shop in Gosford. Each soap has been hand-crafted on-site and there’s even the Coast’s first soap wall. Yes, a whole wall covered in squares of soap. So satisfying. And there will even be the Coast’s first ever soap workshops kicking off in the next few months. Stay tuned.
Looking for a lady start-up to support? Well, it doesn’t get much better than this awesome new tisane tea company. Dava by Nature has been created by an inspiring solo mum in her 20s who lives in Yattalunga and you can read all about her in the latest issue of Coasties. We know they get snapped up as soon as we deliver them but you can read Issue 04 here.
Launched on the first day of March, Pod Organics is a new skincare range that’s not only vegan, cruelty free and organic but it is so delicious, you’ll want to eat it. We got to trial the line before release and we’re now slightly obsessed with the calming mist. Perfect for frazzled mammas.
Ott Physiotherapy is more than just your bog-standard physio. The husband-and-wife team have carefully planned everything from design (slick) to messaging (also slick). Tried and tested and gets the full Coasties tick of approval.
For those looking for unique earring made right here on the Central Coast then the brand new Sakura & Sky is where it’s at. Based in Woy Woy, each design is handcrafted using polymer clay. The rose tones are our vibe, for sure.
The latest issue of Coasties is out now! It can be found in 400 restaurants, cafes, bars and small businesses across the region. But if your local stockist is already out, you can read it (and previous issues) here. Just hit the cover.
