Coasties can bet on a good time at Hotel Gosford this Cup Day

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Put on your party frocks ladies and dust off your smart suits gents – the race that stops the nation and arguably the day that kickstarts the summer party season is back and it’s going to be bigger, better and bolder than ever, we promise.
It’s been almost a year since the Hotel Gosford threw open their shiny new doors to us and if you’ve been anywhere near Mann Street on a Friday or Saturday afternoon, you’ll know, they know how to host a good time. Which is why we were tickled pink when we found out they’re hosting the Melbourne Cup Carnivale on the first Tuesday of November with a fully themed, fully ticketed and fully fabulous offering for those seeking a flutter and a flute of bubbles.

The beer garden, home to an enormous six metre screen to catch all the gallops of the day, will be transformed into ‘The Paddock’ – think exciting hues of bright pinks and oranges, a seriously instagrammable array of gorgeous flower installations and archways, mandatory grassed flooring and spring-themed latticework. Who needs the Birdcage when you’ve got the Hotel Gosford, darling?

A pop up can bar will keep the ales flowing but for those fillies and colts seeking a superior sip, event partner Four Pillars gin will have an exquisite selection of gin-based cocktails on offer and a signature spritzer on arrival.

When punters’ eyes aren’t gazing at one of the many large screens showcasing Flemington’s fanfare or trying their luck on race day sweeps, they can admire local styles with a host of categories on offer for Fashions on the Field with some incredible prizes up for grabs for those who fancy flashing their fashion. And what better way to celebrate a fun day out, than with live entertainment and resident DJs mixing the beats throughout the afternoon and into the Cup Day afterparty.

Hotel Gosford owner operator Jordan Harris said staff were pumped for an action-packed day of good old-fashioned fun and outstanding hospitality.
“We’ve been blown away by the support of the community since welcoming locals back into the newly refurbished venue last November,” Harris said.
“The heritage-listed pub has been a part of the Coast’s local social scene since 1926, and my family have been fiercely passionate about keeping the history of the venue alive since 1998. We want locals to think of us when they think of having a good time, and so far I’m pretty confident we’re getting that right.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to thank locals and hopefully meet some new faces than by throwing the best spring carnival party on the Coast.”
