From late-night dessert runs to beachside cones and family weekend treats, gelato and ice cream are an integral part of the Central Coast lifestyle. Rain, hail or shine (fingers crossed for more of the latter), there’s always room for a scoop – or two – and luckily, the Coast has plenty of places serving it up in style.
We’ve rounded up some of the best ice creameries and gelato spots on the Central Coast, from long-standing local icons to newer names making waves with fresh flavours. Expect colour, variety, quality, and maybe even a few surprises!
So whether you’re a cup or cone person – a contentious debate we won’t be a part of – or you’re ready to tackle a whole sink (it’s a thing!), here’s where to find your next ice cream fix on the Central Coast.
Don’t forget to tag us when you’re out and about enjoying your scoops!
Best Ice Cream on the Central Coast
1 . Spoon Bay Gelato, Coastwide

Let’s be real, there is little surprise that our top pick for the best gelato on the Central Coast is Spoon Bay Gelato. As the “cool gelato bike”, “cute gelati cart” AND “iconic vintage ice cream truck”-wielding team, not only do they have super fun ways of scooping up the goods. But the “goods” (aka the sensationally yummy gelato flavour combinations) are top notch! Eccentric, some might even say.
Their flavours are as fun (or eccentric) as they are delicious (Apple and Cinnamon Crumble, anyone?), and for us, Spoon Bay Gelato has an extra special spot in our #supportlocal hearts as they consistently use locally sourced Central Coast ingredients to create their gelato. Plus, they always make sure there are plenty of dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan-friendly scoops to go around.

You can find them popping up across the Coast at your local beaches (did someone say summer is coming!?), at markets and local events. Be sure to keep an eye on their socials for their weekly whereabouts.
Or why not book them to bring the gelato magic to your own party? The hardest decision you’ll have to make is whether you pick the bike, the cart or the vintage truck. No matter what you pick, with a string of awards to their name, including Gourmet Traveller’s Best Gelato in NSW and the Wedding Industry Awards’ Best Wedding Food Truck, what is guaranteed is that Spoon Bay Gelato will make your event a hit.
And, because we’ve got the inside scoop (pun very much intended), we reckon you keep an eye out for their exciting new location that is opening very soon!
In the mean time find out where Spoon Bay Gelato‘s next event is over at their facebook. or on the gram @spoonbaygelato.

2. Terrigal Ice CreameryÂ
Terrigal Ice Creamery isn’t just a place to grab a scoop – it’s an institution that is an integral part of the Coastie summer experience. Located under the palm trees on Church St in the heart of Terrigal, it’s been run by local legend David for the past 16 years.

Step inside and you’ll be met with the friendliest service and smiles and more flavours than you could dream of choosing from – 55 in total, with plenty of dairy-free options too. From classic choc-mint to more adventurous picks, there really is something for everyone. The real challenge? Narrowing it down to just one (good luck with that).
The flavours and the smiles aren’t the only thing to have built up a loyal local following of ice cream lovers, old and young; their iconic Sink is a Terrigal tradition not to be missed, that has built its own cult like status! Imagine 15 scoops of ice cream, piled high with cream, hot fudge, wafers, sprinkles and flakes, all served up in an actual sink. It’s outrageous, indulgent, and the kind of core memory you’ll be talking about for years.Â

3. Coast & Cone, Coastwide

Coast & Cone brings a fresh, fruity fun to the Central Coast’s ice-cream scene.
Inspired by her Kiwi roots and the type of ice cream that owner Nicola grew up enjoying, Coast & Cone are proud to be scooping up New Zealand-style cups and cones on the Cenny Coast. Which, just quietly, if we don’t say so ourselves, are brilliantly delish with a capital D! In fact, one of the best parts of the fun is actually watching as they blend real fruit into creamy, cool ice cream right in front of your eyes.

Coming to you from their vintage-style caravan, Coast & Cone are all about crowd-pleasing. You can enjoy their travelling scoops all across the Coast at our many festivals, local markets and sporting events. While their main menu features their signature real fruit ice cream, you’ll also occasionally be able to grab a muffin and cuppa. So that (hopefully) you can squeeze in a moment of caffeinated peace while the kids get ice cream from cheek to cheek.
“Scoop locations”, as they like to call them, are updated weekly on their socials. Check them out here @coastandcone_ so you never miss out!

4. The Bees Knees, Copacabana
Right across from the sand at Copacabana Beach, The Bees Knees is more than just a café – it’s also a sweet little gelato stop. Their gelato and ice cream bar is stocked with 10–12 flavours that rotate regularly, so there’s always something new to try alongside the classics. It’s the perfect pit stop to cool off after a swim or tackling the climbing tower at Susan Fahey Park, or simply when the kids are climbing the walls at home and you need an excuse to get out. Ice cream at Copa is the perfect destination.
And if you’re a Coasties Card holder, you’ll score 10% off any purchase, making that scoop taste even sweeter.

5. Ciao Bella Gelato, The EntranceÂ

With more than 50 flavours on rotation, Ciao Bella Gelato Bar in the Entrance always makes the list of Central Coast’s favourite gelato. The team here believe that dessert is a necessity and quite frankly, so do we here at Coasties. You’ll find everything from old-school favourites to quirky new creations amongst their full range of gelato and sorbet – with the sorbet being vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free, so everyone can get in on the fun.
They’re open year-round – because gelato is always a good idea, no matter the weather – and you can enjoy your scoop in a cup, cone, or even sandwiched in a warm brioche bun for something a little different. Paired with the beautiful scenery of The Entrance Corso, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again (and again).
35/37 Coral St, The Entrance
6. Café RONTO, Umina
Best known for its legendary breakfasts, Café RONTO added another reason to visit in July 2025 with the launch of their artisan gelato bar, offering authentic Italian gelato on the Central Coast. Made with the finest ingredients, their creamy and unique flavours are the kind that’ll delight your tastebuds and keep you coming back for more.
While it’s easy to think of Ronto as a morning stop, don’t overlook it later in the day – their gelato is the perfect afternoon treat (unless you’re grabbing ice cream for brekkie, and honestly, no judgement here).
Shop 3, 53–59 Victoria Rd, Woy Woy
7. Biggz Desserts, Gorokan
Bit of a wildcard entry into the ‘best gelato and ice cream’ category, but there’s no way we could leave them out. If you like your ice cream loaded, stacked and dripping in extras, Biggz Desserts in Gorokan needs to be on your radar. They dish up stacked sundaes, loaded shakes, cookies, brownies, frappes – you name it, they’ve probably got it.
They’re not just following dessert trends, they’re taking them one step further. Case in point? Their Dubai Chocolate Thickshake, which is as over-the-top and decadent as it sounds.
Big, bold and unapologetically fun, Biggz turns the simple ice cream run on its head, treating every visit like a celebration.
