Couples Retreat is coming to Terrigal
Is Your Relationship Rocky Enough?
There are a lot of metaphors about relationships and rocks. Weight and stability might have something to do with it. They stay in one place. They are solid. These are perceived as good things in a partnership – “I couldn’t live without them. They are my rock.” A nice idea. However, there is an inherent problem with this metaphor. The reality is that, over time, rocks erode; unique characteristics are erased by agitation and repetition. The rock becomes featureless, unremarkable. Boring. Do you see the issue?
Restoration Retreat founder, Melisa Alba identifies this gradual erosion within relationships as a communal problem within our society.
“I think that it is something that has emerged since Covid,” she said. “We have become so disconnected, so lost in our technology that this has translated to our relationships. We stop seeing each other.”
After observing many ‘stable’ couples on the brink of divorce, Melisa was inspired to facilitate a solution. She studied as a Self Directed Healing Practitioner under Inspired Solutions and her Couples Training was under the guidance of Michaela Bohem, renowned celebrity relationship expert and star of Gwyneth Paltrow’s hit Netflix series, Sex, Love & Goop. Melisa’s establishment of Restoration Retreat offers a safe, cohesive space for people to reconnect with themselves and each other. She is planning her next offering, a Couples Intimacy and Connection Day Retreat, coming to the Central Coast soon.

Couples Intimacy and Connection Day Retreat Terrigal
Based on her experience, Melisa has learned that everyone is a candidate for a relationship renewal.
“People think that it doesn’t apply to them, that their relationship is solid. But there is complacency and it’s eating away at the intimacy, connection and communication that we share.” Melisa believes that the unique characteristics of our relationships are corroded by the pressures of routine and responsibility. Spending time “together” lost in our own satellites of scrolling might be comfortable but, according to Melisa, it chips away at our union.
Sound familiar? Consider these questions;
Do you feel like you and your partner have become roommates?
Are “date nights” a thing of the past?
Are you trapped in a cycle of discussion about tasks?
Have you and your partner forgotten how to have fun?
Did you answer yes to more than you thought? Melisa’s experience is that most people do. This is where the Couples Intimacy and Connection Day Retreat comes in. Set on a stunning property in Terrigal which boasts a serene, natural and open setting, Melisa encourages clients to examine their relationship through a new lens.
“Our Couples Day Retreat is a carefully curated experience designed to strengthen your bond, playfulness and joy,” she explained.
“We offer an unforgettable day dedicated to deepening your connection and rekindling intimacy with your partner.”
Spanning a full day, the Couples Day Retreat is catered with local fare and offers an exclusive journey of intimate workshops. The structure of the retreat reflects Melisa’s expertise as she guides couples through various stages to reach authentic reconnection.
“The first step is supporting the couples as individuals. We must reconnect people with themselves before we consider their role within a relationship.”
Melisa is mindful of obstacles that could obstruct connection, and she designs her workshops to create a safe and supportive space.
“We begin with grounding breathwork and meditation which creates a sense of peace and clarity.”
Couples transition into men’s and women’s circles which support honest and gender-specific “heart-led” reflection. The afternoon sessions focus on reflective journaling and intimacy workshops before the day is finalised with a luxurious pairing of cheese, wine and whiskey.
“We offer a place where you can restore your entire being through healing, play and letting go,” said Melisa.
“This is a life-changing experience which celebrates you and your relationship.”
At Restoration Retreat, Melisa challenges you to chip away at complacent habits and redefine your relationship rock. The Couples Intimacy and Day Retreat offers you the tools to rediscover the uniqueness of your relationship and renew the beauty of your partnership.
