They say “if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.” That’s a line that definitely rings true for Mel Archer, creative force behind The Foundry Cowork and C-Cubed, a Central Coast success story proving that passion really can turn into practice.
Coworking might be all the rage now (cheers, Covid), but before it became the buzzword it is today, Mel was already living it. As a self-employed designer in Sydney, she shared a creative studio and rented out hot desks to other freelancers – basically, coworking before it had a name. A later trip to New York showed her just how vibrant shared workspaces could be. Back on the Central Coast, she wanted to recreate that same cool, collaborative energy – and when she couldn’t find it, she decided to build it herself.
Best Coworking Spaces Central Coast

Mel opened The Foundry Cowork in Erina in 2018 – a boutique, all-inclusive workspace she imagined would attract mainly entrepreneurial creatives. But word spread fast, and soon freelancers, start-ups and consultants from all sorts of industries were calling it home. And in 2022, The Foundry Cowork Gosford opened its doors.
Both spaces are warm, bright and beautifully styled – the kind of places you actually want to work from – complete with high-speed internet, printing/scanning, meeting rooms, air con, Nespresso coffee, chill-out areas, the lot.
The appeal’s obvious – no lock-ins, no hidden fees. You choose how often you want to come in, pay accordingly, and you’re good to go. Hey, it beats another day working from home, avoiding chores and talking to yourself!
Executive Coworking Gosford
And in October 2025, the next chapter: C-Cubed Cowork in Gosford, a fresh joint venture between Mel (who is also a Director of the Gosford Erina Business Chamber) and building owner Paul Blanch, offering a more executive-style coworking experience.

C-Cubed has been thoughtfully designed with all the essentials – permanent desks, private offices, mediation facilities and sleek boardrooms. There’s even a purpose-built training room that can comfortably host groups of 20 to 60 people, perfect for workshops, corporate sessions or community gatherings.
The fit-out is modern and comfortable, with a hint of retro style that sets the tone the moment you walk through the door. Every desk and office is ready to go, complete with storage, monitors and soft furnishings. And with one flat monthly fee, members can enjoy all-inclusive access without surprise extras, and six-month memberships keep things flexible and fuss-free.
C-Cubed’s meeting, board and training rooms will also be available to the public for casual daily hire, with online bookings coming (very) soon.

Central Coast Cowork Community
What’s kept The Foundry going (and growing) isn’t just the workspace – it’s the people. Working solo at home was sapping Mel’s energy – no banter, no idea-sharing, no coffee catch-ups – and she knew plenty of others felt the same.
That sense of community runs through everything – from workshops and networking nights to social events. People don’t just pop in; they stick around. Friendships are forged. Collaborations happen organically.
“When I come in here, there’s always someone to chat to,” says Mel. “Each day is different – with different people coming in – and there’s been genuine friendships made at The Foundry. I’m proud of that.”

What Mel has achieved is nothing short of impressive. With two thriving Foundry locations, plus C-Cubed’s imminent arrival, she’s creating more opportunities for locals to connect, learn and grow – all without the commute.
But what keeps people coming back is undoubtedly Mel’s focus on community. Many members are new to the Coast, still trying to find their tribe – and Mel’s created the perfect space to do it.
“When people tell me they’ve made real friends or landed new clients here, that’s when I know it’s working,” says Mel. “It’s more than just desks – it’s a community that really looks out for each other.”
