We’re pretty lucky here on the Central Coast, we have an abundance of fresh market seafood fished right here in in our waters. Our speciality is undoubtedly the oyster, with oysters farms spotted throughout our shores. Best of all, purchasing your seafood from a local fishmonger is a brilliant way to support local businesses. Here’s our top picks for fresh seafood on the Central Coast.
1. Anthony’s, Kincumber
Selling seafood on the Central Coast for over three decades, Anthony’s is a firm favourite for one reason: Everything is super fresh. There’s oysters, prawns and lobsters on offer but also high-grade sashimi, blue-eye cod and Japanese roe. There’s even takeaway fish and chips if you just want something easy.
2. Darron’s Seafood, Wamberal
Darron’s Seafood is undoubtedly a local favourite for a fish and chip supper. But the owner, yep Darron, also offers a huge range of fresh seafood to enjoy at home, including oysters and kilo bags of ready-to-eat prawns.

4. Molly’s Local Seafood, Gosford
There’s a different special almost every day and you really never know what you might get at Molly’s Local Seafood. It could be WA lobster tails with coriander and chilli pesto or perhaps a prawn-packed paella. Each dish is ready to be heated and then served at home. And there’s also fresh seafood available in the fridges each day.
5. Big Boyz Oysters, Bensville
Pulled from the waters in Hardy’s Bay and sold from Empire Bay, Big Boyz Oysters are just that – ginormous oysters often the size of your hand. And they’re great value with a tray of 12 costing $18. Or if you prefer Kilpatrick, it’s $24. Pre-order is essential and pick up only.
7. Skinner’s Seafood, Ettalong Beach
A bit of a hidden gem, Skinner’s Seafood is a small hut on Picnic Parade filled with the latest catches. What ever is fresh that day is handwritten on old school blackboard. You can expect oysters, mussels, octopus, clams and bugs.
8. Ocean’s Blue Seafood, Budgewoi
For almost three decades, Ocean’s Blue Seafood has served up award-winning fish and chips to the masses. But the team are also pretty passionate about fresh seafood, especially if they can source it locally. 9. D & L Witchard
Hailed by locals as the best oysters on the Central Coast, this family-owned seafood shop has past through three generations of the Witchard family. There’s no fancy social media account or even a website. It’s simply a turn up, buy what is fresh and then enjoy a real mix of fresh seafood at home. Local’s choice, for sure.
