There’s no better cure to a long day or reason to go on a family outing than a juicy burger – and thankfully on the Coast, we have plenty of options. From the big whoppers to the finer, more adventurous styles, here’s a list of the best places to grab these timeless favs.
1. Moobi Valley, Berkeley Vale
The team at Moobi Valley knows a thing or two about what makes for a good burger patty. After all, this fine butcher in Berkeley Vale has made a crust out of delivery quality meat to very satisfied customers all over NSW. If you simply cannot wait to get home to cook your meat, why not get it served hot and fresh at the butcher.
Top Order: Their menu is simple but is stacked with flavour. Locals will tell you, you can’t go past the famous Moobi Classic cheeseburger complete with an Angus patty, pickles, red onion, tomato chutney, mustard mayo all on a brioche bun. If you’ve got room add some piping hot beer battered fries to the order to really bring it home.
Where: 3/60 Lakedge Avenue, Berkeley Vale
2. Bar Terry’s, Terrigal
A recent addition to the Terrigal foodie scene Bar Terry’s has arrived with a bang! And swiftly cemented their position in this list by serving up some top-quality burgs along with an epic drinks list and a super cool with a funky vibe! Artwork by local talent Biffy Brentano adorns the walls and only adds to the taste sensation your taste buds get to experience.
Also on the menu, you’ll find the usual suspects of ribs, wings and poutine, all done exceptionally well, but the crowd-pleaser for us (and anyone else out there with kidlets) is the excellent value kids menu.
Top Order: We say this time and time again but how to choose when everything is so damn good! For us, it is a close toss-up between the Daddy Terry – Double smashed patties, double cheddar, lettuce, onion, sweet and spicy pickles on a triple milk bun and Terry’s burger sauce and the Terry’s Chicken Burger – Southern-fried chicken thigh, cheddar cheese, lettuce, maple aioli, candied jalapenos and streaky bacon. Yum and YUM!

3. Suzie Dukes, Kincumber
Using only the freshest and most locally sourced ingredients, as well as their own heavenly-soft milk buns made next door, these American-style burgers are well renowned in both Kincumber and in their Sydney stores. For some extra add-ons, their specialty shakes and loaded fries are also top notch. For more info on their delicious range, check out their website.
Top Order: Either their handcrafted smashed beef patty burgers, of their fabulous Classic Chicken burger, made with buttermilk fried chicken, oak lettuce, tomato, onion and aioli (or the spicy alternative!)

4. BMX Burgers, Umina Beach
Head to BMX Burgers in Umina Beach and step back in time to the radical vibes of the 80s. Step inside this themed burger bar and you’ll be greeted by high wooden tables, a fully stocked bar and fluro decor everywhere. You’ll cop all the fun of a throwback bar and restaurant with a tasty menu to top it all off.
Top Order: Go to BMX Burgers hungry because these massive creations aren’t for the faint hearted (or not particularly hungry). These American loaded burgers are all worth picking but we suggest going for the Porky’s Burger that comes with slow cooked pork, butter leaf lettuce, slaw, American cheddar, bread and butter pickles, crackling and smoky BBQ sauce.

5. Sal & Co, Wamberal
You won’t find a better spot to nosh on a delicious burger than seated out the front of the Sal & Co coffee shop opposite Wamberal Beach. Their menu is packed full of fresh ingredients that won’t leave you feeling like you need to roll home. And you can pick up a delicious coffee to have with your meal.
Top Order: The Sal & Co Hot Chick Burger is our pick. With spiced chicken breast, bacon, avocado, rocket tomato and scorpion aioli you can’t go wrong. This will be the best post-beach feed you’ll ever have.
Where: 1/82a Ocean View Dr, Wamberal
6. Luxburgs, The Entrance
Another new contender and the makers of “luxury-made” burgers, Luxburgs has landed at the Entrance and just in time for summer. Burgers for these guys are a passion and you can tell from the moment you set foot through the door. As they say, they are on a mission to “change the world one burger at a time!”
With plenty of outdoor seating and situated right on the Corso at the Entrance, you’d be mad not to pop your head in for the Luxburgs experience.
Top Order: OG Luxburg is without a doubt a winner. Because sometimes less is more and going traditional is a must. Milk bun, Wagyu beef pattie, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, onion and pickle. Yes. Please!
