The Central Coast’s best coffee roasters

If you’re anything like us, you’ll love a good brew. In fact, if we’re honest we need one to properly function, especially first thing in the morning (ah, the joys of being a parent to small humans). Now, we agree getting a barista-made coffee will always be our first preference, however, having the convenience of a home caffeine maker, means those early starts are just that little bit easier.  And, smoother, with the help of these local roasters.

1. Glee Coffee Roasters, North Wyong

Household names and genuine coffee all-stars, but if you ask them, Glee Coffee Roasters is simply run by a group of ‘well-caffeinated, passionate coffee heads’. It comes as no surprise that they take out the top when it comes to coffee roasters on the Central Coast. Supplying their coffee to many of the top local cafes means that as a Coastie, you’re likely sipping on a Glee coffee.

Founded by Central Coast brothers Ben and Chris Gleeson and their wives Jem and Beth, the fun-loving, down-to-earth vibe of this close-knit family operation shines through everything they do. People and coffee are at the heart of Glee Coffee.

From their Roastery in North Wyong, they carefully roast and craft ethically sourced green beans to create their staple house blends, “The Goods” and “The Verve,” alongside a collection of limited edition single-origin coffees. The beans are available for purchase from their North Wyong Roastery, Glee Erina Heights, online and various cafes across the coast.

Owner Elisha has always had a passion for all things coffee, and after years of working in the industry both locally and down in Sydney, she now brings all of her experience and knowledge to the Central Coast.  In a bid to celebrate, who she deems are the real unsung heroes, that’s you! The parents on the school run, the doctors and nurses, the bus drivers, the tradies, and the local community that makes up the beating heart of the Central Coast. Her mission is to ensure you have amazing coffee, food and service.

Local Heroes show show-stopping seasonal blend Good News takes your milk coffee to the next level. They also showcase two options for our black coffee drinkers with a Mild and Wild Category. 3. Legend Coffee & Culture, West Gosford

Legend, alright! By name and by their coffee, their cafe, their roastery…ok, let’s just go with Legend, full stop. Their West Gosford, industrial warehouse-style roastery and cafe features a slow bar upstairs and oozes uber cool. As one coffee lover shares via Google: “would fit right in around Fitzroy or Newtown”, another commenting “best coffee on the Coast!”.

A long time in the making Legend has been built on the love of coffee (and creating a truly slow coffee experience) and sharing that very experience with other like-minded lovers of the same vibes.  When visiting Legend you can watch the roasting happen IRL, or for a more in depth experience you can book a roastery tour or private cuppings. Brew guides, bean sourcing info and the most essential, coffee/bean subscriptions are all housed on their online home here.

Straight outta Gosford, their most popular blend is the Gossy it’s big, bold and straight up trouble!  And, here for the good times, just like it’s namesake. They also produce seasonal blends and one-off bangers, just for fun (and the odd special occasion).

4. Frank’s True Brew, Coastwide

This is great coffee for a great cause.  The story of Frank’s is truly heartwarming. When coffee lover Frank’s son was diagnosed with autism the family knew they’d be faced (like many others with neurodiverse diagnoses) with a lifetime of therapies, appointments and costs.  They experienced first-hand the value of the charities set up to help families in the same position, and so, they decided to give back. One hundred per cent of net profits from this speciality coffee roasting business goes back to charity. They are driven by their quest to help one cup of great coffee at a time.

Their beans can be purchased on their online home here or at Bambino Deli in Erina Heights.

5. The Daily Coffee Brew, Berkeley Vale

Popping up in Berkeley Vale industrial area in 2022, we introduce The Daily Brew. Owner Grace is all about a super simple approach, they serve up quality coffee, accompanied by toasties, pies and treats from their cafe space. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this spot is most definitely worth visiting for a cuppa.  Whilst there be sure to pick up some of their beans too, which are available for purchase.

Give them a cheeky follow on the Gram for all updates and events @thedailycoffeebrew

6. Mosey Coffee Roasters, Morisset

Moesy Coffee Roasters

Another brilliant Covid success story – That Coffee Van was created after owner Dave relocated to the Central Coast during the pandemic. Mostly hanging around Lake Munmorah and the surrounding areas, Dave’s pulling shots of their own award-winning Mosey signature blends and dispelling the myth that awesome coffee can’t come from out the back of a van.

With over 20 years of experience in hospo and having formed a close relationship with coffee and the art of coffee making Mosey Coffee Roasters was born.  Dave wanted to roast, prepare and present coffee that he and his family wanted to drink themselves.  Continuing to grow, coming this May to Morisset (just a touch North of our Coastie bounds) is Mosey’s flagship espresso bar.  It’ll be compact but pack a punch.  Pick up your beans from there otherwise head over to their website for all your caffeine needs.
