Tuggerah Lake Bike Path

What’s brilliant about Tuggerah Bike Path is that you can hop on at any point over the 12 kilometres, running from The Entrance through the Long Jetty foreshore and then onto Chittaway Bay. There’s plenty of places to stop, public toilets and playgrounds. There isn’t anywhere to buy supplies though so bring your picnic with you.

Kincumber Cycle Path

Distance: 3 KM

Level: Moderate pedal power

Running from Kincumber to Davistown, and back again, this is a six kilometre round trip that requires some previous pedal experience. It suits older kids who can cycle comfortably for over about an hour. There are toilets at the Kincumber end, with a playground. Take note as these are the only facilities on the stretch. Make a day of it, and have lunch at either the Kincumber Hotel or the Davistown RSL which are found either side of the track.

Ettalong to Umina

The Box Ettalong
You can start at The Box and cycle to Umina

Distance: 2.8 KM

Level: Training wheels are off

Running from Ettalong near The Box on the Water restaurant to Umina is a flat cycle path with idyllic sea views. While the stretch closest to Ettalong is neatly framed by a strip of greenery, the path soon opens up to running close to a busy road. It’s best to have experienced non-wobbly riders for this bit. Take your swimmers though. The ocean definitely calls.

Gosford Waterfront

Distance: 1.2 KM

Level: Easy as.

Okay, you’re hardly going to be in training for the Tour De France on this whip-quick of a bike ride but it is pretty kid-friendly. You can jump on just near the Gosford Swimming Pool at 42 Masons Parade. There’s plenty of parking, a playground and green spaces for a picnic.

Beautiful Canton Beach by @kristinebest.songwriter

Distance650m

Level: Easy as.

Another great one for littlies who are just getting used to cycling is Canton Beach Foreshore in Toukley. The bike track is short, and right on the water. There’s a fantastic playground, and time it right and you can get a fish and chip lunch or dinner at Beach Parade.
