Experiences launch at Distillery Botanica in Erina
Well-known, well-loved and global award-winning local distillery, Distillery Botanica’s Fragrant Garden in Erina will be etched into the minds of many a born and bred Coastie. The gardens have recently had a massive overhaul and the Distillery has reopened with a modern, new 144 square metre cellar door. The new ‘gin garden’ which is home to everything you need to make a good gin, is an integral part of their recently launched and immersive “experiences range”.
Experiences at the Gin Garden promise both locals and visitors alike, a day full of discovery, delicious gin, and a deeper appreciation for the artistry behind distillation. Included in the lineup are, gin-distilling and make your own vodka workshops, cocktail-making, and distillery and garden tours. And, once you’ve blended your own gin you can simply relax with a cocktail. We think a visit to Erina’s Distillery Botanica makes the perfect day out for any spirit lover.

Aside from the whimsical gardens that are a treat to visit any time of the year, what we also find wildly impressive, is the massive 4 metre high, 2400 litre copper still, which takes up about a 3-metre corner of floor space within the distillery. This was created specifically for distiller Phillip Moore and his team to distil all of Moore’s gins! Pretty remarkable, we think.
Experiences aside, what would a visit to a distillery be without tastings? These are on offer with guests invited to try a few, or all, of Distillery Botanica’s premium spirits including six gins (the new Pearl Crush Gin is a match made in heaven between Distillery Botanica and Borken Bay Pearl Farm – and yes, it actually contains crushed pearl), two liqueurs, vodka, and new Terrigal rum. Not forgetting the acclaimed Mr Black coffee liqueur, created by Phillip Moore and Tom Baker in 2013. This spirit has taken the world by storm and we think is a critical ingredient when it comes to whipping up a little espresso martini. A minimal tasting fee of $5 is asked for to try some samples at the bar, or it’s $15 for a sit-down tasting of the full range. If something tickles your fancy remember that Coasties Card members can take 10% off any full-sized bottles). See Distillery Botanica’s Coastie Card Deal here.
