Academy Open Day is coming up soon for Australia’s leading place to learn music production, The Grove Studios, on April 22nd
So, for all those passionate about starting a career in the music or audio industry, set the date! On top of training in the same environment shared by Australia’s most loved artists and producers, you will also have the opportunity to complete a CUA50820 DIPLOMA OF MUSIC (SOUND PRODUCTION) with the help of industry-experienced instructors offering thorough care and personalized support for their students.
These are just some of the reasons why it’s graduates give us such high praise, and why they keep coming back for continuing post-course involvement. Here’s more!
The Grove Studios Academy, Somersby
Inspiration is easy to find in this retro, Somersby-based studio.
For one, the gorgeous Australian landscape covering the property is sure to get the creative juices flowing. Even more importantly is the enthusiastic and encouraging community of instructors and classmates, and perhaps the legacy of INXS’s legendary musician Garry Gary Beers – the studio’s builder – ingrained in the walls, that remind you you’re in the right place. Having been in operation since the late eighties, the studio has been recognized nation-wide as one of the most high-quality recording workspaces in Australia, so it’s no surprise that it’s attracted and recorded some of the country’s – and our –fav artists, including Birds of Tokyo, Ocean Alley, Little Quirks and Dune Rats.

Diploma of Music (Sound production)
So what does the Academy’s course offer?
The Grove Studios has been running the one-year CUA50820 DIPLOMA OF MUSIC (SOUND PRODUCTION) course for five years now, and it’s students have confirmed that each year it gets better and better, with classes that are hands-on, and which allow you to work with cutting edge equipment and invaluably knowledgeable instructors currently working in the field.
Even better, due to the studio’s incorporation of the ‘Smart and Skilled’ reform, the government subsidizes 2/3 of the expenses – meaning there’s no HEX, you can pay in instalments and you can get a Diploma out of it. It also involves a flexible 3-day a week schedule.
If you’re 16 or over, and passionate about sound production, we strongly encourage you to swing by the Academy’s Open Day 22nd April 10-2pm, to check out the studios, classrooms and grounds, and meet the lecturers. There’ll be live music by Long Jetty legend Lawson Hull and the talented DJ duo Barley Passable, as well as a good old sausage sizzle to kick things off. Email them your interest at [email protected] or check out their website here!
