We’ll be honest, we think that fish and chips on the Central Coast are pretty seasonless. Perfect in summer after a long day at the beach.

Perfect in winter if rugged up and watching the sun set. And actually, pretty good takeaway for a Friday night at home with a wine or two.

So where to find the best fish and chips on the Central Coast? Here’s our top 10.

1. Avoca Seafoods

When it comes to fish and chips on the Central Coast, award-winning Avoca Seafoods had to be on the top of our list. This is an Avoca Beach institution and a favourite with locals and tourists alike. You can grab your traditional fish and chips but also deep fried mussel, cold ready-to-peel prawns and even gluten-free fish and chips. A winner.

2. Terrigal Beach Fish and Chip Co

Grabbing some hot chips to go after a swim in the ocean in Terrigal Beach is what summers are about. And winter if you’re brave enough. Throughout the week, Terrigal Beach Fish and Chip Co generally do $10 lunch specials, like four pieces of squid, chips and a salad. Don’t leave without trying their homemade tartare sauce.

3, Woy Woy Fisherman’s Wharf

For those who like the option of either takeaway fish and chips or eating them in a fine dining restaurant, then the Woy Woy Fisherman’s Wharf is where it’s at. This is one of the oldest fish and chip shops in the whole of the region. Ask locals and they’ll tell you about visiting when it was just a whole in the wall. But even today, this is the freshest fish you’ll find.

4. The Box on The Water, Ettalong

It might look like a pretty slick Ettalong restaurant from the outside but swing around the back of The Box on the Water and you’ll find the kiosk which offers fish and chips to go. Either sit on the beach or on the grass bank just outside for a picnic. And it’s the perfect spot for kids with a park and cycle track running next to it.

5. The Island Café, Norah Head

Fancy your fish and chips with a side of wine? Then The Island Café in Norah Head not only serves plates stacked high with plenty of chips and many goujons of what ever fish is on special at the time but this café is also licenced. Bring an appetite as the portions are massive.

6. Beach Parade Seafood and Takeaway, Toukley

One of our favourite things to do on the Central Coast is to get a takeaway bag of fish and chips from Beach Parade Seafood and Takeaway on Canton Beach in Toukley, unroll the picnic matt at the foreshore and watch the sunset. This is a prime spot for incredible sunsets on the Central Coast. And you can level up and buy some fresh oysters and prawns as well.

7. Anthony’s Seafoods, Kincumber

Anthony’s Seafoods is incredible fishmongers turned fish and chips takeaway on the Central Coast, found in Kincumber. Anthony has been running this fresh and cooked seafood spot for three decades and has a loyal customer base. The fish and seafood is always the freshest, with the oysters some of the best on the Coast. But there’s a lengthy

This fish mongers in Wamberal is an institution, with Wambie locals always being very vocal that this is the best fish and chips on the Coast. And we’ll call it, the offering is pretty incredible. What stands Darrons Seafood apart though is that it’s high quality but at a reasonable price, with two pieces of fish and a large chips costing just $11.

9. Killcare Beach Kiosk

Not only a great spot for coffee after a morning walk along the beach, the Killcare Beach Kiosk is our go-to during the summer months for takeaway lunch to keep fuelled for a long day at the beach. There’s everything from burgers, salads and fish available here. Expect a bit of a queue during high season.

10. The Beach Kiosk Umina Beach

Set inside the NRMA Ocean Beach Holiday Resort, it’s a bit of a secret that The Beach Kiosk is open to those who aren’t staying at the incredible resort. And here you’ll find the best fish and chips in Umina. And it’s just a quick walk to enjoy them on the beach. This is a lunch time spot though as they close around 4pm each day.

11. Big Tuna Fish Co.

If you’ve not gone to The Entrance and had fish and chips, have you even been to the Central Coast? It’s a Coastie must do. There’s seating here but we’d recommend getting your order from the Big Tuna Fish Co. to go and sit next to the beautiful Entrance foreshore. A stunning spot no matter what time of year it is.

12. Central Coast Fresh & Cooked Seafood, Gorokan

And the last on our list, the Central Coast Fresh & Cooked Seafood is found on Tuggerah Lake and not only has all the takeout favourites but also fresh fish and seafood to take home if you prefer to cook it yourself.
