48 hours on the Peninsula
The Peninsula has so much going for it, it’s hard to choose where to start but we’ve selected the best of the best, to take the thinking out of it for you.
Let’s start with your morning coffee fix at Lords of Pour. These legends serve up some of the finest coffee on the Coast, but with offerings like panna cotta granola and chilli salmon scrambled eggs you’ll want to see the breakfast menu too.
Lords of Pour, 199a Ocean View Road, Ettalong Beach.
After fuelling up for the day it’s time to take in the view from Mt Ettalong Point. This 1.4 kilometre bushwalk is super easy, and it will lead you to stunning 360-degree views of the waters surrounding the Peninsula. Trust us, you’ll want to spend a bit of time up here taking in the scenery and snapping a few pics.
More on this walk here.
For lunch, check out Rise Bakery in Ettalong where the bread, pies and pastries are baked fresh, in house every morning.
Rise Bakery, 61/189 Ocean View Road, Ettalong Beach.
Before putting your feet up for the afternoon, you’re going to want to stop off at Upstairs Wines in Ettalong. It’s a boutique wine store curated by husband and wife Dave and Michelle. They offer you the kind of wine you won’t find in the bigger stores and go for products from small wineries that limit their use of synthetic chemicals and nasty additives.
Upstairs Wines, 46 Picnic Parade, Ettalong Beach.
Time to check in to your accommodation for the night at NRMA Ocean Beach Caravan Park. You can BYO van, rent a townhouse or lodge or, our if you want to go all out, book the ‘glamtainer’; a shipping container converted into a luxurious glamping experience. This is where you’ll want to pop the bubbles you picked up from Upstairs Wines as you sit back and enjoy the surroundings.
Dinners at Dom Pedros in Umina can’t be beaten, where the vibrant Mexican cuisine, themed food nights and quirky interiors are sure to wow, though also be sure to stick around and enjoy their delicious cocktails and drinks menu at one of the best bars on the coast.
Dom Pedros, 2/227-231 West St, Umina Beach.
In the morning it’s time to get your creative on at Centred Ceramics in Umina. Owners Guy and Jennifer are some of the nicest people you could hope to meet. They run classes and workshops for all skill levels from beginner, even workshops for kids. And what’s more, they also happen to run a café where you can get your morning fix of locally roasted coffee, locally made tea and selection of delicious snacks. Be prepared, they only serve dine-in unless you bring your own takeaway cup and we love them all the more for it.
Centred Ceramics 246 West Street, Umina Beach.
Now you’re all chilled after your pottery session it’s time for some deeper relaxation, at Hada Beauty in Ettalong. If this is the first time you visit this beautiful day spa by the ocean, we can guarantee it won’t be your last. Founder Shauna Sharples specialises in holistic facials and massages.
Hada Beauty, The Galleria Ettalong Beach, Stop 48A 189 Oceanview Road Ettalong Beach.
Last stop is the beautiful BOX On The Water, where you can grab a seat overlooking the beautiful lapping waters of Ettalong Beach’s foreshore while enjoying some of the best modern Australian cuisine the Central Coast has to offer. Tantalizing Shakshuka Barramundi, Berkshire Pork Belly or perhaps another pick from the restaurant’s decadent degustation menu seems not bad a bad way to end a beautiful 48 hours on the Peninsula at all –Â though we’re sure you’ll be back.
The Esplanada, Ettalong Beach Waterfront Reserve
