For almost 30 years, Vera’s Water Garden has been a total drawcard for families visiting The Entrance. A bright spot to cool down on a warm day, a visit to Vera’s feels like a mini holiday and is one of the most popular things to do on the Central Coast with kids.

And now, after a major upgrade as part of The Entrance Revitalisation Project, we confirm that this much-loved Central Coast water park is back and better than ever!

A modern, inclusive splash park at The Entrance

If you’re hunting for free things to do on the Central Coast with kids, Vera’s Water Garden is hard to beat.

In October 2025, the space was transformed into a modern, zero-depth splash park designed to make water play more accessible, interactive and fun for everyone.

Gone is the old wading pool – the new design has no standing water, making it safer and more inclusive for little ones of all abilities. The splash park has a flat, slip-resistant surface instead, complete with fountains, sprays and a brand-new splash bucket that tips right when you least expect it!

Parents can chill out in the shade nearby while the kids dash, squeal and splash their way through it all.

It’s exactly the kind of upgrade this beloved seaside suburb needed!

Viva la Vera – the Central Coast icon returns!

Of course, no upgrade to Vera’s Water Garden would be complete without the quirky, crowned ‘lady of the water garden’ herself. Vera’s statue, a whimsical female figure that doubles as a play feature, has been a familiar face at The Entrance foreshore since the mid-1990s. She’s an absolute icon!

Generations of Coasties have grown up splashing around Vera, and now they’re bringing their own kids back to do the same. So when plans for the upgrade were announced, locals spoke up – loudly! A Council poll revealed that 76% of respondents wanted her to stay, and stay she has. The once-faded statue has had a fresh lick of paint and a bit of TLC to tie together The Entrance’s past and its playful new future.

Vera’s comeback is a nod to everything we love about the Coast: colour, character and some good old community spirit. Whether you’re seeing her for the first time or coming back with your own kids in tow, Vera is still right where she belongs – the heart and soul of The Entrance’s family-friendly splash park.
