Spring School Holiday Activities on The Central Coast

The spring school holidays will kick off on the Friday September 17 and it’s unlikely that we’ll be out of lockdown by then.

But that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty to do across our region. From virtual classes to outdoor fun, here’s the best spring school holiday activities on the Central Coast.

Indoor Spring School Holiday Activities | Central Coast

1. Tune into the Australian Reptile Park

A trip to the Australian Reptile Park is usually on the cards at least once during the school holidays, isn’t it? But just because they’re temporarily closed doesn’t mean you have to miss out. The fantastic team have been jumping onto Facebook live almost every day, sharing the story of the different animals at the park. The week’s itinerary can be found on the Australian Reptile Park’s Facebook.

2. Order an art kit from Luna & Co designs

If the kids are zoomed out after the last few months of remote learning, why not use those Creative Kids vouchers at Luna & Co Designs? There’s a whole range of art kits for kids that are truly unique. We like the tie dye t-shirt kit and the paint-your-own skateboard kit.

3. Virtual Yoga Classes

Central Coast Council have a huge range of school activities planned for the spring break but our favourite has to be its free daily yoga classes, which is in association with Erina studio The Yoga Collective. There’s Wake Me Up Yoga, Wind Down Yoga and even Animal Yoga to keep younger kids focused on the moves. Pre-register is essential.

4. Virtual Science Experiment

On Friday October 1, kids can unlock their inner scientist with this fun online virtual science experiment workshop. It’s suitable for ages 4 to 9. All you have to do is pre-register on the Central Coast Council website and they’ll let you know what you need for the day.

5. Drawing Workshop

Have a budding artist on your hands? There’s a few drawing workshops running over the spring school holidays on the Central Coast. There’s cartoon drawing, for either beginners or those more advanced. And Central Coast Libraries are also hosting the doodle challenge where you watch a film for inspiration and then get drawing.  This is running for the whole length of the spring school holidays.

6. Private Surf Lesson

Did you know you can still book in for a surf lesson on the Central Coast? Group bookings are a no-go with COVID-19 restrictions but one-on-one surf lessons are still allowed. You can book in with Central Coast Surf Academy for an hour-long lesson for $110.

7. PYO Oranges

This Wyong farm is still open for PYO oranges with it being in its final weeks before the season ends. It’s a COVID-safe activity but just make sure you social distance and wear a mask. There’s a playground found just before the farm which is perfect for post-picking picnics. Hit the link to learn more about PYO oranges.

8. Hit the Skate Park

It’s a government-approved activity, with skate parks still open across our region. Here’s a full list:

9. Rock Pool Adventures

We’re pretty lucky on the Central Coast to not only have a huge amount of idyllic beaches but plenty of rock pools of all different shapes and sizes that are perfect for an outdoor adventure. Our top picks are; North Avoca, Terrigal Haven, Norah Head and if you sneak around the cliff edge to the right of Avoca you’ll find a secret spot of rockpools of all different shapes and sizes.

10. Grab some Fish & Chips

The NSW Government has confirmed that picnics with your bubble are still allowed as long as you adhere to social distancing rules. So, you can either grab a picnic and head to one of the many incredible picnic spots on the Central Coast. Or why not level it up with fish and chips on the beach? 11. Bush Walks

Yes, you’ve probably exhausted all bush walks on the Central Coast by now, right? But part of the Bhouddi National Park track has just had a facelift so worth checking out again. The Coast Walk Track in Bateau Bay also only recently re-opened after a new $200,000 track was laid.  And here’s a list of the best nature walks on the Central Coast.

12. Spot a Spoonville

A great one for little kids, there’s now nearly 20 spoonvilles across our region. The initiative started at the beginning of lockdown, with spoons decorated as people plunged into the grass to create a make-shift spoon communities. And well, it’s taken off. To start you off on your adventure, there’s one on the track between Davistown and Kincumber and at the back gate of Terrigal Public School, Ena Street, Terrigal.
