Looking for a new Central Coast walk to hit? Well, the newly improved Coast Walking Track is now ready for a visit.
The $200,000 upgrade kicked off earlier this year, taking a kilometre of the track between Bateau Bay and Crackneck Lookout and implementing a more structured trail.
The walk is a total of three kilometres, starting at the Bateau Bay Beach picnic area. From there, you’ll walk through the bush before wandering along the clifftop.

Once at Crackneck Lookout, you’ll get the most spectacular view of the ocean. And during peak whale season, between May and late August, this is the #1 whale watching spot on the Central Coast.
This Coast Walking Track is for the relatively fit, with plenty of steps and steep inclines. And in total, the walk there and back clocks up to six kilometres.
It also isn’t particularly great for young toddlers so take the child carrier or head over to the more child-friendly Norah Head Lighthouse walk.
