Escape to the Central Coast Hinterland
We’ve found the ideal Central Coast Hinterland itinerary – a perfect autumn escape to rejuvenate you.Â
As the cooler months start to make their appearance on the Central Coast, it’s time to swap our salty sea breeze and sandy toes for the misty mornings and views for days that our hinterland offers. Get keen, this ‘Coasties road-tested’ autumn itinerary will leave you feeling like you’ve just received a giant hinterland hug. Look forward to weekends of retreating, relaxation, incredible food, and breathtaking scenery.

Day 1: Arrive and indulge.
Ease into your escape with the Coast’s most picture-perfect dining experience – a meal at Saddles at Mount White overlooking the water always ticks all the boxes. Tranquil dining would be the way we’d describe it, but it’s not just the dining that’s tranquil; be sure to take a wander around the grounds of Saddles – an instant calmness starts to take hold.
We can’t ever go past their house-made pastries, and the beef brisket pie is also a must. After a long, leisurely brunch or lunch, you won’t want to leave, but you need to make your way to Noonaweena, a luxury retreat nestled in the hills of Kulnura and overlooking Yengo National Park. Noonaweena means a ‘resting place in the bush,’ and let us tell you, the instant you step foot on the property, it feels like home. The warmth and kindness of their hospitality that’s about to envelop you is palpable. Spend the afternoon and evening unwinding by the fire pit as you sip a vino or soak in the outdoor spa under the stars.

Day 2: Coffee, nature and village vibes.
Wake up to the sun rising over Mount Yengo before a bushwalk to take in the fresh mountain air, followed by a sauna. Then grab your coffee and baked goods from Bowen, Noonaweena’s new pop-up cafe, before you hit the road. It’s a short but oh-so-scenic drive through the village of Kulnura before you reach your next stop – the historic Rustic Nest, a cozy and stylish haven in the heart of Yarramalong Valley. Take your time to settle in, soak up the charm or explore the wild cottage-style gardens. Then for dinner, simply pop across the road to Angel Sussurri. The country ambience and hearty meals showcasing fresh yet humble local ingredients will captivate your senses and feed your soul.
Day 3: Scenic routes and eco-adventures.
Well rested and rejuvenated, you’ll wake to birdsong and perhaps a spot of yoga. After brekky we strongly suggest you take the scenic route along Yarramalong Road to take in the rest of the Valley and Wyong Creek as you head back towards the Coast.
Saddles, Noonaweena and Rustic Nest are all part of the Coast’s Ultimate Eco Adventure Tour. So, whilst no one likes the goodness of an escape (especially one as nourishing as this) to come to an end, you can rest assured that there is plenty more where this came from.
